because it's a pattern? I've read that's why children should learn the piano and play chess. Probably part of the reason crossword puzzles stimulate the brain.

You will get lots of suggestions.
A doctor focused on elderly is your best option.
They can test them and prescribe something to give you hope.... but reality is not much will change the course in my opinion.

Mother had Alzheimer’s that got turbo charged after a bad bout with an infection.
Great thing was she stayed happy and if a conversation went the wrong way I knew I would get to have it again in about 90 seconds so could change the course to make sure it was happy.

My father also had Alzheimer’s and was pretty much dementia. Men tend to get a little mean at then end as opposed to the women. Especially military men cause they are use to structure. Just always remember that they are not really the same person and would not do the stuff at the end they do if in their right mind. Just accept it and do not try to correct or control. enjoy the moment and realize they are the same person as you remember in there somewhere...

My parents both passed and within five weeks of each other. My dad was sad at times when he remembered he had a wife (who passed first) but for most of the time just looked around.

I am convinced they where in there somewhere and tried to just be around so when they would get a minute of awareness they would see someone they recognized

Good luck
Alzheimer’s sucks!!!!!!!!

Whenever you talk to them, bring up questions pertaining to the job they had.

Older family member was going through the same situation. He was a retired engineer, and we would ask him to solve hard math problems.

You’d be surprised how many formulas those old guys remember.

I know I might as well say essential oils, but.... Low carb high fat diet. Study shows 25% less amyloid plaque

also quality sleep, this is when the brain washes out those plaques that cause dementia.

CBD from plants.

Sleep and hydration are vital to brain health. Video games probably help some to. Pour all the alcohol out. It is poison

I would go with small dose of mushrooms and some Doobie Brothers or CCR. Great reset then follow-up with the normal stuff. Drink lots of tea with Ginko Biloba.
