While I overall liked Gov Foster, didn’t he back and endorse the Stelly Income Tax increase plan?

The same one that got repealed partially under Democrat Blanco and then finished off with the Shaw Bill under Jindal.

I consider Mike Foster the best Governor in my lifetime. That said, let us not forget that he WAS a Democrat up until 1995 so he wasa Democrat for way longer than he was ever a Republican. He switched parties to run.

Democrat in early 90s on back in Louisiana means nothing remotely like Democrat today in Louisiana or national politics.

I never pretended to suggest that they did.

At the time, the idea was that lower sales taxes on certain items would do more to help the state economy.

In retrospect I'm not sure it was a good idea.

Mike was a baw. A lot smarter than anyone gave them credit for too.
Mike Foster was a rich kid who never worked a day of true manual labor in his life.

I remember his commercials in ‘96 where he climbed on that brand new clean tractor to show everyone how he was just one of us…

People ate it up and are still apparently blinded by that conman.

I do for anyone who is 18 or older. Younger than that, I believe seatbelts should be required.

Foster was a good, decent guy and a decent governor. I'd say "good" but he did put Bobby Jindal on the radar who literally screwed this state and the people in it.

CSB - incoming
Mike Foster caught me smoking pot at his house.
Years ago I worked for a company that put down the surface in playgrounds at Mc Donald’s and such.
Mike Foster wanted it by his pool. Me and my co worker were ducked out behind his pool house smoking a dubbie. Mike came around the corner.
Told us to not smoke that crap at his house. Gave us a 100$ bill.
True story.
