The census that historians tell us never occurred. It's not like we don't have a historical record of what was going on back then. This mythical census never happened.

Wow, you are way off on your numbers.

Four gospels:

Mathew was written 50 years after Jesus's death.
Mark 55 years after Jesus’s death.
Luke 63 years.
John 80 years.

Meaning all four gospels were able to interview hundreds of eye witnesses who have first hand knowledge of Jesus.

The Quran, Islam’s holy book, was written 600 years after Jesus’s death. They state Jesus was sinless and a great prophet but was not the son of God.

So since it was the census and Roman kept great records, we should have a great record of what time of year he was born.

What bothers me about mega churches with extravagantly wealthy pastors AND oppulent, gold clad Catholic Churches, is me thinking how much good could have been done for the people in the church community with all that damn money?

Think of how many meals could be provided, how many food shelters could have been stocked, how many homes could have been repaired, how many pediatric medical visits could have been sponsored. Why must these donations and tithes be spent on material goods?

And don’t give me this bullshite that he got this money from book sales like that Osteen Hack in houston. If he actually lived the life he preached, he wouldn’t live in a multi million dollar mansion.

These guys don’t need to, nor should be expected to, live in poverty. But they shouldn’t be living in lavish luxury completely removed from most of their church community. Man this pisses me off.

ETA: And another thing, that lying sack of shite pastor that asked his congregation for a new jet and said Jesus wouldn’t be riding on donkeys today, donkeys were not the nicest form of travel at the turn of the century, chariots and carriages were, and Jesus didnt have a golden covered ones. Now I’m fricking furious this morning. shite

From everything I'm reading, there doesn't seem to be a question about a census happening, just which one Luke is referring to. But it seems that there was a census ordered roughly every 14 years. Luke refers to one, Josephus refers to another one that seems to contradict Luke's account of who ordered the census, which is really the only debating point.

have you read Jesus' story in the Quran.

OMG, it's great. The Quran is pretty laughable.
The Muslims have Five prophets who are above Muhammad.
Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus (yeah they have same God like it or not)

Well one day Mary touches a dead palm tree, it blossoms and a baby is on top. That baby is Jesus.

You know they believe Muhammad rode a Buraq into heaven. A Buraq is a creature with a woman's head a mule's body and a peacock's tail. It could jump miles in a single bound. He saw Gods face and the seven heavens.

He also turned on the Jews because the Medinan Jews were asked by the unsubverted Meccans to turn on Mohammed. They didn't turn on him, but he blamed them for meeting with the Meccan leader and killed or expelled many of them. So again the Jews being scapegoats and forced to flee.

Crazy religion.

They pay personal property taxes, they do not pay taxes on things they claim belongs to the church.

It didn't happen. The reason it's confusing is because you're reading a bunch of christian sites trying to explain away the inaccuracies of the bible. It's crazy how little consistency there is in the "inspired word of god" from one book to the next in the bible.

I mean, they're using other historical documents NOT the bible to do so, but ok.

You are forgetting the other other gospels that were rejected by the church in the 300s AD because they contradicted the most basic premises...like no virgin birth, Jesus was married, etc.

God damn a lot of y’all a stupid. It’s not where they make their money from: tithing, speaker fees, endorsements, books.

It’s that they preach from the Bible and yet live a life of extreme opulence and luxury when they could live an extremely comfortable lifestyle and hep our sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much more than what they do

What I always wondered. Did Jesus have to be born in a manager because the area was crowded for Saturn's Day? Or was it Hanukkah? Why were the Inns all booked?

“Inn” is an incorrect translation into English. The Greek word for an actual inn is different and used in the parable of the Good Samaritan as proof. The word kataluma is used in Jesus’ birth and just means the place

How did we get “inn”? Well there IS a cultural word insula, which would be the established family living area as part of the Beth Ab (“Father’s House”).

What seems to have actually occurred is they showed up to their family and their family area was either full or they were rejected due to the scandalous nature of her pregnancy (cf Isaiah 53:3, John 1:11-13)

Anyone who collects a salary pays income taxes. That's not what this is about and I'm pretty sure you know that.
Any corporation, which is exactly what these mega churches are, pay taxes. Somehow claiming they are a church, relieves these corporations from their tax liability and its BS.
