WBRZ Hammer Time Link Report

quote:

A man suspected of using a hammer to shatter hospital employees' car windows at Our Lady of the Lake fled on foot after a police officer spotted him.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said an officer working extra duty at a parking garage saw the suspect walking through the area with a hammer around 2 a.m. Monday. When the officer approached the man, the suspect ran away

The "security" at OLOL are so fricking fat they couldn't catch a cold. That or they're basically harassing the white men that work there because they might have tried to use an elevator.

The only way they could be any more worthless is if they just didn't show up at all.

Pro Tip: Quit that place. The administration is useless. They cover up criminal activity to present a positive image to the public.

BR might as well be a third world country.

The worst thing OLOL ever did was become the charity hospital.

Imported the worst denizens down to Essen.

That move always puzzled me. The stability of the Government cheese must be worth it according to their calculations.

What's also weird is that hospitals usually just about break even on Medicare and Medicaid patients. They make most of their money on people with private insurance. There may have been some other incentives included with that deal too when they closed Earl K Long.

I agree. I never cared enough to actually research it, but there has to be more to it. I’m sure they were getting a lot of the ‘indigent’ before but this assured it as the only option. No idea why am organization would want do that. The money is coming from somewhere.

OLOL wanted the status and prestige of being the teaching hospital. Also the Medicaid dollar's distributed by the state.(Thanks, Bobby J.)The employees were being told during the accreditation process that they were only taking the MD's. The patients were going to have to go elsewhere.

I have a relative in the medical field....

OLOL is just like a catholic school.

They pay like shite and suppress any dissenters by playing the religion card. "Oh, you're doing the Lord's work" meanwhile raking in money hand over fist.

This is exactly it. OLOL has always taken Medicaid, so does BR General and Ochsner. But by closing Earl K Long, and becoming a teaching hospital it just added to the wonderful clientele.

Although, it’s been sketchy down Staring for a long time which is only a bus ride away.

To clarify what they get is 100% Medicare rates for Medicaid patients and uninsured patients. That means patients they previously had to see for free suddenly they are reimbursed Medicare rates for. Not to mention subsidies for being “academic” with money previously given to LSU to fund earl k and the charity system now going through the lake.

Um, that’s exactly how it works with this situation. Jindal wanted the state out of the charity hospital business and made the Lake a deal they couldn’t refuse.

No, other organized religions have their issues with corruption, but it was the Catholic Church that organized a worldwide coverup of pedophiles that was managed at the highest levels of the church.

No, the previous poster said:

But that’s not how it works. OLOL (or any hospital) does not ‘suddenly’ get reimbursed for patients. The state needs the paperwork to get the federal dollars. The more Medicaid recipients, the more federal dollars. No hospital gets paid x amount of dollars for uninsured patients. Those patients have to apply and qualify for Medicaid (or a few other types of programs that fall under Medicaid).

Jindal made his friends a lot of money by trying to privatize Medicaid and getting rid of Charity. Screwed the state a little while he was at it, too.
