See - you (and everyone) already form opinions on the truthfulness of allegations depending on who the accused is. How does that make victims more likely to come forward?
If you were an aspiring actress in Hollywood and you went to the LAPD a year ago saying that Harvey Weinstein showed you his dick after you agreed to go to his hotel suite, what do you think would've happened? Arrested and put on trial?

Because we want evidence. In American the accused are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
My personal belief is that Weinstein is probably a scummy guy. I think there's enough evidence out there to prove that much. Whether all of the accusations or true or if they happened exactly they way the stories suggest, I cannot say.

Trump's accuser for the October surprise, has been thoroughly discredited for bringing false accusations before, and admitting to it.
President Clinton's accusers, well, Governor Clinton's accusers, were smeared for years, but never discredited or found to be lying. These women have maintained their accusations, and have never changed their stories, either. That bastion of women's rights, Mrs. Clinton, has done her utmost to ensure that these accusers never get any traction.
