It bills itself as Louisiana's oldest museum. It's an interesting if not somewhat anachronistic throwback sort of place. Better hit it soon, as I can't imagine its long for our generic progressive ideal nowhere world.

It's already had its name changed from "Confederate Museum" to "Civil War Museuem" a few years back.

It's small, but nice. Resembles an old church, architecturally.

Is he really wanting to remove Jackson as well?

I wonder what they will rename Jackson Square.

I still can't believe they're taking down the statue of the man who founded the freaking city.

There are pictures of kamikaze bombers in the WWII museum. Big pictures. I guess they should take those down.

For the life of me I can't figure out why someone would want statues of traitors in their city. They fought AGAINST Britain and killed thousands of our men.

Fify

I agree, mate.

Damn colonials didn't know what was best for them.

Yep, it'll be Louis Armstrong or MLK square. Those are the only two names allowed for monuments, streets, etc in NOLA.

What history? Oh you think the people that want the statues down actually care about history?

Yeah I am sure the demographic most in favor of taking these down have deep interests in the history of what happened.

It's not like they would take these down for political gain, would they?

You're right. I guess I enjoy history too much and overestimated the mental capacity of the people that are really fighting them being up.

they are on city property. The state can lay claim to the monuments, but the land is the city's so do whatever with.

No one cared about the monuments until Mitch decided to take them done. Now for nearly two years people hav paid more attention to this issue than the failing NOPD>

now that we got all the jokes out the way, serious question: What's a brother got to do to get trending around this damn place?

You actually think having them in a museum is the same as having them out in the streets?

Those statues are just causing too much crime in NO. Life will be perfect for us all once they are gone.

If someone with an overinflated sense of their present day mores thought to eradicate a place like this because of their misguided modern day ideals, I'd tell them they are a misguided idiot, in the same vein as Landrieu, yep.
