It depends on how big and physical you are as a person.

If you can fireman drag it while holding it's jaw shut you can move it pretty easy now getting its jaw and flipping it is the hard part.
7/8 foot on land is doable
I've never moved a living gator over 6 foot but I believe I could go up in class.

Dude, I had a 7’ alligator in my yard several years ago. When the AC officer put the rope around it, it went into a violent roll that convinced me any gator over 4-5’ is far more serious and dedicated to survival than any human (unarmed). Land or sea, 4-5’ is the max I think anyone could mess with. They’re some rank, rangy frickers. Even on land.

To the death? No weapons?

Gonna be tough killing it with your bare hands.

Man, you're right.

I thought a 5' Gator was like 70lbs.

6-7 foot is when they start to put on some girth. Below 6 feet and they are long and skinny.

We had two baby pet alligators in our aquarium in our dorm.
Big sexy.
And
Big papa pump.

You had to handle them with oven mitts and they still hurt like a motherfricker when they beat you.

They are some crazy strong a violent bastards for a while...but they wear out quickly. Constantly messing with them for a while makes them pretty damn slow and lethargic. Much easier to handle.

Bare hands is the issue. You gotta have a way to kill it when it wears down. Even a rock would work but if you can't use anything but your hands there is no finishing it.

I never chime in on the animal vs man threads but this is one I've accomplished. Granted, I was younger at the time.

I’ve caught em in the 5-6’ range from a boat at night with plenty of liquid courage flowing from a night of frogging. That about the limit I can get my hands around the neck and that sob was pissed and like to whip my arse. I wouldn’t mess with anything bigger

There's a technique to fighting a gator: always come equipped with two good hands, and about three feet of good rope. Gators, even big gators, are quite powerless if you can hold those massive powerful jaws shut. Get a grip and quickly tie that mouth shut with the rope (it helps if you got a gator-fighting buddy alongside of you to help in the tie-down.
