The CEO gets paid 18 mil, they budgeted 3.9 for tree trimming
i called them several times on an old lady down the block from me and they didn't do shite about the massively overgrown oak in her backyard easement
sure enough, it was one of the trees that fell on the line during the Derecho .
Now they are going to up my rate cause they don't maintain their shite?

You would think the federal govt would have much better resources in place to restore power in these areas
What companies do the Feds have that are in the power restoration business?

Center Point should have had crews ready prior to Beryl making landfall and the Harris county officials (looking at you Dora) should have been on CP like white on rice.
You're not very smart.

Hey bro, you're fricking up CenterPoint's 3rd Qtr earnings.

If I remember correctly, some of the fine residents of Houston were harassing the repair crews.

I got news for you, Center point gonna charges all those customers for the repair work

Some of the harassing was from people who were without power for several days and you would drive by parking lots filled with line people from neighboring states waiting on orders from CP.
Side note: Allegedly

CenterPoint may treat Mack like Boeing treats their whistle blowers.

Honestly, that wouldn't be a bad idea for the diocese to think about when he passes.
I don't know what religion he is and it doesn't matter but, he has been the Patron Saint of Houston for longer than I've been here.

CEO fricked now.
It wasn't so much the fact that power was out, it was no communication and complete disorganization by CenterPoint.

exactly, it is less about the days without poor and more about how clearly disorganized they were.
Houston had not been hit with an ice storm or hurricane-force winds since Ike, on top of that 2023 summer killed a lot of trees. Any hurricane was going to cause a lot of damage. They just had their thumb up their asses
their inaccurate maps that you couldn't zoom in on

And to compound this, Centerpoint just dealt with widespread outages after the Deracho 2 months prior.
Instead of being proactive and from how bad that was, they turned a blind eye to any preventative work knowing we were going into Hurricane season.
To boot, the area that was hit by the Deracho and supposedly "fixed" was screwed again. Centerpoint didn't even do additional prevention in the same area while repairing.

Maybe we’re just used to it in Louisiana and the bar is in hell at this point, but I would’ve expected 3 days before the earliest power would’ve been restored. These fools were losing their minds after 24 hours.
There is some truth to this. The main issue is people in Houston, a lot of them transients, don't grasp that downtown to the open Gulf is only 55 miles. The same distance from Raceland to Port Fourchon and a lot closer than NO than to the open Gulf. Now throw in a metro area of over 4 million. You can argue that X number of people shouldn't lose power in a storm of the size (and it is damn good one), but 80% of metro Houston was in the NE quadrant of storm that made on the outside edge of the 72 hour cone. Once that many people lost power, there was no way in hell power was coming back on to everyone in 3 days.
My biggest issue with CenterPoint is they KNOW all of this but do not have a a long term plan to bury power lines.

It should be a concern in Texas because we have the freaking labor to undertake those projects.
Executives dont want to fit the bill.

If I knew 24 hours after the storm passed that it was going to be another 72 hours, I would have sent my wife, daughter, Mother-in-law and grand kids on vacation.
I would have done a number of things different from a business perspective.
Edited to add:
Other than the main distribution towers, most of our power is buried.

Same with my kids who recently moved. They did not expect a 7day outage from a cat1.

I’ll bet he is. What are the odds?

Mack looks really old here.
Mack is a legend for good reason, but one Businessman calling out another business is rather interesting.

the business community has every right to call out centerpoint
my company was out of power for a week.
Every single one of my customers that I've talked to is working overtime or double shifts to make up for it.
beyond that, your entire workforce is burning the candle on both ends because they have no power at home.

Did Centerpoint just sell their gas operation? Saw or read it somewhere, thought it was to a company in N.O. They are my natural gas provider and the bill is still Centerpoint.
