And the civil trial would take place in Lafayette? Bring that on. They couldn't hand pick 12 jurors that would award them damages.

Exactly. The only thing that would play in their favor is the national media attention

He bashed CNN and the media about how they give these murderers such a platform

Outside the mental illness, a VERY large problem, yet the media doesn't care. They just want ratings.

he's a good kid, and is going to have a tough road.

i am confident he will use his platform for good, and he's already started.

our prayers are with you Matt!

The he's a moron, because they always have police stationed at that theater. I go there all the time. I think the bigger problem has to do with modern social alienation. This guy, by all accounts, was an aging "loser." Adam Lanza was a social pariah "loser." I think these people take account of their lives, see that society has rejected them and decide that being "evil" or "notorious" is better than being a loser. Evil gets remembered and is feared. Losers are forgotten long before they even die.

I think that is spot on

UK Daily Mail has an article on the shooting. Many beautiful pictures of the 2 women who were killed if anyone wants to link them.

Similar phenomena when it comes to gangs. You grow up poor, uneducated, and feel like the world doesn't care about you. You pick up a gun and you instantly become someone

Just wondering if everyone thinks if the two women were armed would it have saved their lives?

Considering they were supposedly shot from behind I'd say no.

the whole thing probably lasted less than 10 seconds, just unloaded a mag of a handgun it sounds like so really probably more like 5 seconds

so no, and I believe he was in the back of the theater shooting forward, so no one could see it coming

No. They would have probably still been killed. This was going to happen no matter what because you are dealing with a psychopath. The guy clearly planned on getting away and probably would have done this again. Props to law enforcement for showing up fast enough to prevent his escape

Police chief said he did reload the weapon at some point during the shooting

Lafayette Shooter Exhibited Violent Tendencies, Radical Views...Confederate flag defender!

Huffington Post Crime

About a decade ago, "I started noticing he was changing," Hostilo said. "He would get very vocal and passionate about something. He’d go off on a tirade ... he would go on tirades for 15 minutes."

Houser's tirades were initially focused on local politics, but as the years went on started to concentrate on issues like gay rights and a belief that the South was being ill-treated by the rest of the country.

"Everything was a plot against the South," said Hostilo, who said Houser expressed a fear the government was trying to destroy the Confederacy. "I told him, 'the Confederacy was already destroyed.'"

Hostilo described one occasion when Houser burst into a town water board meeting about water rates, and starting trying to blame increasing rates on gay people.

Thanks for destroying the Confederacy Obama!
