You're welcome. I am a big fan of the Little Cajun Saint.

I know what you mean about selling merchandise, but it costs a lot of money to promote a canonization and I guess they have to get it everywhere they can. At least they are doing it in the parish hall. Last year they were selling stuff in the vestibule.

She liked basketball and from Louisiana. Awesome!

You think they simply pray for us when we ask for their intercession or it’s more of a direct connection with God?

My take is that Jesus demonstrated to us that He did not do everything on his own, He used helpers. Jesus didn't need to utilize any helpers at all - He could have completed His ministry entirely by Himself. He chose not to. He wanted to use human helpers.

So, extrapolating from that, we can argue and believe that Jesus/Father/Holy Spirit, in their Infinite Wisdom as The Godhead, continues to favor a helper/community approach. As such, the Saints in Heaven are able to pray to God for us. We are able to pray to God directly and we are able to ask the Saints in Heaven to also pray to God for us. If we ask the Saints in Heaven for prayers, God is Omnipotent and also hears our prayers.

Of course, what I'm saying here is not universally believed among all Christians. There are other viewpoints.
