We need to bring back mental asylums again. These liberals did away with it because they didn't like people being labeled as "crazy".
Ronald Reagan was a Liberal?
Reagan did not close asylums as President. If anything by reversing Carter’s bill along with many Dems asylums and large institutions could still get funding instead of it going to community based programs. They just continued a trend of closing.
Reagan and Dems including the Dem controlled house cut a program that had barely started as it was signed a month before the election and was not granted any raise in revenue by Carter or the Dems (sponsored by Teddy Kennedy) to even be fully implemented in the first place. That was the next President’s and Congress’s problem. Carter’s bill wanted to close the large mental institutions and hand out grants directly to smaller community based programs like money was printed on trees.
By reversing all of Carter’s election gamble but one section laws basically went back to status quo including what could receive federal funding and funding ended up being cut by 1/3 only which the states never made up. The states’ closing of institutions just continued as they had been doing since the 60s including with fame of the book and then the movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and then later was de facto enforced due judicial decisions limiting ability to keep anyone in them which has become the bigger issue for the mentally ill homeless.
As far as closing of larger institutions.
quote:
The Community Mental Health Act was the last legislation Kennedy signed into law before his murder in Dallas. The act accelerated a process called “deinstitutionalization”—a national shift in mental-health treatment from state hospitals to community-based facilities. Between 1955 and 1998, the populations in state and county mental hospitals dropped from approximately 558,000 to fewer than 60,000.
Reagan wanted to reduce federal spending and give more control to the states, but the “States proved more enthusiastic about emptying the old facilities than about providing new ones. Many patients went from straitjackets to steam grates.”
quote:https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2015/06/americas-largest-mental-hospital-is-a-jail/395012/
Other legislation contributed to the process. When Congress created Medicaid in 1965, it barred payments for people in “institutions of mental diseases” but allowed payments for community mental health centers. In the last year of his presidency, Jimmy Carter signed the Mental Health Systems Act of 1980, which provided grants directly to community mental health centers. The boost in funding was short-lived. In one of the first speeches of his presidency, Ronald Reagan complained that, through federal mandates, “a federal helping hand is quickly turning into a federal mailed fist.” His administration repealed the Mental Health Systems Act within its first year, converted direct funding into block grants for the states, and cut federal mental-health spending by one-third. No one picked up the slack.
… “The policy that led to the release of most of the nation’s mentally ill patients from the hospital to the community is now widely regarded as a major failure,” declared The New York Times in 1984. “States proved more enthusiastic about emptying the old facilities than about providing new ones,” the Chicago Tribune noted in 1989. “Many patients went from straitjackets to steam grates.”
… The Great Recession accelerated the nation’s downward trend in mental-health spending. Between 2009 and 2012, America’s 50 state legislatures cut a total of nearly $4.5 billion in services for the mentally ill, even as patient intakes increased by nearly 10 percent during the height of the economic crisis. Until a few years ago, Chicago had 12 mental health clinics. In 2011, Mayor Rahm Emanuel's first budget proposed closing six of them. The closures—city officials referred to them as “consolidations”—would save the city an estimated $3 million as it struggled to balance its budget.
Something even bigger happened to healthcare after this that surely fixed mental health issue since it was Dems who controlled executive branch and dominated Congress with 60 Senate seats at one point. Obamacare was allegedly the cure for all our ills. Dems definitely had the power to shove anything they wanted down our throats with 2 years of overwhelming control over 2 branches of govt. Not as overwhelming but Dems had control over the same 2 branches for first 2 years of Biden’s autopen.
If they felt something was still broken they would have attempted to fix it correct?? Or do they just like playing politics with the mentally ill including the mass shooters???

These dudes just posted a Minnesota politician going on a rant about protecting trans people today.

I just found this. In the 1800s there were 32 school shootings recording.. in the US.
None had more than 2 people get killed so I guess they were not mass shootings, but I thought it was interesting.

I can’t see what you posted at the moment, but that was probably the mayor of Minneapolis where the shooting and murder of innocent kids took place as he did this earlier today.

Just looking through random things related to school shootings I came across this.
Anyone remember this?
It took place in Baton Rouge in 1988
Anyone remember this?
quote:
33-year-old Evelena B. Moore, a special-education teacher at Galvez Elementary, opened fire on cafeteria worker Beatrice Hills in the school's parking lot. Hills was not injured. Police arrested Moore and charged her with attempted second-degree murder. Moore was back at work the next day. Superintendent Ralph Ricardo said that the school board had no provisions to dismiss a teacher charged with attempted murder, and therefore Moore was allowed remain on the job until pleading guilty or being convicted of the charge.[425]

Gender and sex are the same thing. The only hang up is when people have both reproductive parts Anyone who thinks gender is a social construct is a retard. Similar to the trannies that also think that pedophilia is a social construct so are trying to normalize minor attracted persons. Just a bunch of bullshite that has been caused by people creating a protected social group for weirdos while at the same time trying to jam it down people's throats.
Words have meanings. There is not and never has been a reputable English language dictionary which would define gender and sex in the same manner and would not list either as synonyms. In fact every reputable English language dictionary would include terms that would indicate gender, used to define gender as related to human beings, is indeed a social construct. Some will also spell out it is not synonymous with sex. Only the truly ignorant, who do not know there is a difference in the meanings of these two terms and are therefore guilty only of being human and not knowing, the willfully ignorant who are simply stupid, or the truly stupid among us who are unwilling to accept that they are simply wrong.
There is no test, no genetic marker, nothing science has which can identify gender. In a blind test where the person giving the sample is unknown to the researcher the researcher cannot determine the gender of the person who gave the sample. That same researcher cannot determine identify the biological sex of the person, not their gender because only the person who gave the sample knows for certain what their gender, what they identify themselves as, is. Most people will identify as the gender that others identify them as and the characteristics of that gender will coincide with the biological markers of the sex that person is. Some do not. Anyone who thinks those people choose to identify as a gender that others do not see must logically have considered their own gender identity in a moment of gender confusion. Most people simply accept what others identify them as without ever thinking about it.
Of course anyone who says otherwise can refute this by telling me what THEY identify as another person’s gender who they meet who has a beard, broad shoulders, is taller and heavier than the average human and is wearing a sport coat, a dress shirt, tie, dress pants and loafers. Now tell us that persons biological sex. No one alive today or who ever lived can do so…they can only tell you for certain what they think that persons gender is, they have no clue what their sex is nor what the person themselves identifies as gender wise. Anyone who tells us otherwise is wrong.

The Oxford Etymological Dictionary of the English Language of 1882 defined gender as kind, breed, sex, derived from the Latin ablative case of genus, like genere natus, which refers to birth.
This is describing the term like saying cooking is a female duty. It's gendered.
Cooking cannot ever be associated with sex, comparatively, as it's a biological term.

Gosh, this whole situation is just sad. Sad for those innocent children. Sad for individuals who can’t even accept what they were created to be (male vs. female). And sad that our nation has gotten to the place of condoning and normalizing this behavior. I will be praying even though these politicians have no hope for the future. But I still have hope…
