My dads only relationship advice was "marry rich"

Yep. You don't want to end up married to a bitch that holds her fork like a toddler.

I will probably get down voted into obvilion, but it is most definitely a bad idea. It comes down to how they were raised and how that differs from you. Someone that is lower class may be perfectly content making 11 an hour for the rest of their life, working in retail, never advancing and never wanting better. Since they grew up with nothing, they didn't learn the value of money and don't know how to manage or save it. Also, read outliers. It discribes how lower classes are much more susceptible to giving up on things at the first sign of adversity because they faced so much adversity growing up.
I've experienced this in my last relationship. My grandma said something about this and it pissed me off. I thought it was idiotic and rude. 3 years later and I realize she was right.

I grew up lower middle class, but because i had that upbringing, I know I desire so much more in life. I have struggled in my life. Alot. I never want to struggle again.
But different people react to their circumstances quite differently.

I am a bean pole, and have always like big, glorious bootys. It is an issue.

I consider myself working class but my gf to be middle class
She gets pissed as hell when I say that to her, but her perception on something is just ridiculous and doesn't quite click that not everyone has had it as good as her.
Aside from that it doesn't cause any issues just an easy way for me to piss her off

This is why debutante season was invented, after all.

I hate to say it, but you are rreally right about that.. I found out early it is ok with the one night stand. But, you really need to get to know them or you will do like i did one time. Found out two weeks later that the good puss i got that night turned into a real pshyco! I did not marry her!

I grew up in a single wide trailer in the sticks of north Louisiana. My wife grew up in Old Metairie.
We agree on
My biggest thing isn't neccissarily where or how you grew up, it's the communication you have with each other and how you grow together.

The whole theory is based on middle class mixing with lower class. But what about middle class marrying upper class?
Posted on 1/12/17 at 7:02 am to GreatLakesTiger24
you can be working-class and middle class. I don't believe those two are mutually exclusive. Furthermore, even if they were mutually exclusive, the divide between them is pretty grey and not enough to warrant this discussion ........................................................................................................................peasants.

I have noticed as I have grown older that I strictly only date women in a white collar profession.
More times than not in the past I have dated women in jobs like (hair, retail, etc.) and when it came down to it, I knew that money would always be an issue even with me making decent coin.
It takes a good two income household to live freely nowadays, unless you were born or lucked into a high paying position.
I personally want my household AGI to be 150k or more. I am almost now two years into my Engineering career so I already cover about 60% of that. hopefully in a few more years I can get to about 70% of that. Meaning the future Ms. 50_Tiger just needs to make about ~45-50k
