Show me a person who prioritizes a mother over a spouse, and I'll show you a divorce/ee.

jesus. if they are that succcessful and can't muster up enough to buy your mom a good laptop then you're a piece of shite.

What if she was an abusive piece of shite? An addict or a scam artist? No way to make a judgement with the limited info available.

I have a mother that works two jobs and barely makes it. She is currently trying to better herself and has gotten into school and asked me to help her buy a laptop last week to help her learn.

I didn't hesitate a minute and asked her to meet me at best buy. I have a wife and two kids and they were happy as hell when I told them what happened

You only have one mother

Inmediate(household) family is always first. ...in a reasonable and respectful perspective. Those five bros need 10 lashes for this shite tho!! In this type of situation I'ld do even try to help a distant relative or friend.

Good list.

It isn't like she needs a million dollars. Its a god damn laptop.

Go buy it and help out your mom.

Now with that being said, these sons may not be as "well" off as they would want you to beleive

I just wanna tell each of you that I wouldn't do that...I wouldn't and I will not! 'Cause I think that's real shitty.

They are, that's one of the baffling things about it. Like they are doing extremely well

My family takes first priority. That includes my parents. If I could help either of them in any way, I would. In this particular case, I'd buy the damn laptop for her myself if none of my siblings wanted to help.

They are probably scared to tell their wives because she will bitch. A lot of wives bitch about anything pertaining to husbands mother. I dont understand how anyone could be so mean.

is there a point at which your kids+wife >>>> your parents
Yes, of course.

It's kinda silly to have to rank em, but if you really need to, it becomes:

1. Kids

2. Wife/Husband
3. Parents

But...I don't think that ranking has much to do with your scenario. On the surface with the little we know, it seems pretty shitty of these brothers to not help out their mother. But, we also don't know what else there is to the story in the OP. Maybe the mother was a shitty mother and still shitty to this today, and they don't want to have much to do with her. Not saying it's so, but there are certain things we may not know which would could help explain the behavior of the brothers here.

I thought this was going to be like a "Do you call your Mom enough each week?" kind of question. The answer to that question would be - "no, I don't. My family takes up a lot of time and I usually don't call my mom enough each week."

But what you're saying? That's low.

Wow they really can't pitch in? These days you can get a laptop for a couple hundred easy that would do everything she would need.

That's sad.

I would drive over immediately to pick her up so she could choose which laptop she wanted.

Personally, my dad never attended college. He grew up in England in the 60's-70's and it wasn't needed. He has a good job working for an oil company, but I know he doesn't like it that much. My goal is once I'm done with Law School/MBA is to help him go to college for a history degree.

I agree with the order of Kids, Wife, Parents, Friends (I don't have siblings). But if my parents needed anything I wouldn't think twice about helping them no matter if it pissed off my spouse

My kids and wife come before my family. That being said, even though my mother in law is a class A bitch, my wife and I bought her a 2012 Mercedes C250 when she needed a new car in 2012. Grant it, she wanted us to buy her a 5 series BMW. A laptop would be bought and given without hesitation.

5 successful lawyers, businessmen and engineers shouldn't be at the point where $100 is the difference between their wife and kids starving.
