Very encouraging testimony Nurse. May God bless you and your spouse in whatever plans that He orchestrates.

1. 28 and 27
2. no kids
3. 6 years altogether-married for about 3 weeks
4.First marriage
5. Concerts, dinner, movies, drinks
6. Often-nearly every week. We are each other's only obligations though outside of work, so it makes things much easier.

1. Your age and "partner's" age.
Late 40s

2. Children, yes or no? If so, how many?

2 23 and 19

3. How long have you been with this person?

25 years
4. First go around (marriage) or learning from your mistakes?

First
5. What is a typical date outside outside of your home?

Now that the kids are gone are off to college we do a lot of things. Festivals, 3 day weekends, etc.
6. How often do you have a "date" night in a month, quarter, semi-annually or annually?

At least once a week.

It is very tough to have your time with the wife with young kids. Now that our kids are a little older we have been doing a lot of things we used to do before we had kids. This past weekend we went to Natchez for the balloon festival and next weekend we are going to Destin just to hang out. We have a Monday date night every week.

1. 32 and 30
2. one little girl, 1 year 8 months
3. 10 years (4 years married)
4. first go around
5 and 6. rarely get out to ourselves. life the past many years hasn't allowed for it. she was in med school, then residency, and started practice this august. life is more normal now. about 1 night out a month or so, but working to improve on that! two weekends ago we dropped the baby off with her parents and spent the weekend at our fishing camp tearing the trout up.

things are looking up for us. just still transitioning into being a normal couple!

63 and 69
8 between both of us
23 years
Both learning from previous mistakes
Date time outside the home usually involves the 2 youngest kids in some sort of activity
Try to have a date night without the kids about once a month

I would feel the same about your perpetually "single", childless, existence. I do feel that way when you (or others) start threads espousing the "ending" of marriage. But with no malice or judgment. Different strokes, Rocket.

Honestly, I enjoy when we are sitting in our lazy boys next to each other watching TV or I'm surfing the net. Gonna sound cheesy, but its a pretty comforting feeling having her there even though we're not doing anything special. Sometimes it's just great to be sitting down relaxing together. Be careful. Women generally have a much different view of this than do men.

This is true. However, a woman will be less likely to get upset over this is the guy actually tells her how he feels when they are just sitting together like that. Men are not mind readers, but neither are women.

A woman could be seething thinking "All he cares about is just sitting there doing nothing. When was the last time we did a date night just the two of us?? Does he even care about me being here right now? I bet he wishes I wasn't here so he could watch his shows on tv right now. He probably wants to watch that show with that hot chick he loves on it. I bet she is a total whore in real life that kicks puppies and is a bitch to everyone she knows. Meanwhile my friend and her husband are out painting pottery together and drinking wine. Why can't we ever do stuff like that!?? I'm totally not having sex with him anytime soon, he clearly doesn't care anyways."

Meanwhile....the husband is thinking ...

"Man, I feel so much closer to her when we are just sitting here together watching tv. It's just comforting knowing she is there with me. I love her so much. I should do something special for her sometime soon because she really does deserve it."

Damn nurse. Lot of thought into that post.

Truth is 5 nights of the week we are kid shuttling and most nights we aren't settled in until 8:30 or so. After working all day and driving kids everywhere all we want to do is relax.

She has her Thursday nights with friends after work drinks and we usually do something with friends once a month on Sat night and my wife absolutely loves that as a "date night"

This school year has been a bitch with how busy we are with the kids. It's so bad we are nearly planning our sex dates and times.

That specific post isn't from a specific personal experience.

I just know that a woman's mind is sometimes her own worst enemy. There have been times where I got all pissed off over something with my husband....and turns out if I would have just asked him about it instead of assuming....I wouldn't have gotten all mad in the first place.

The last time my wife wanted us to have a serious talk was over her assumptions. She talked to her friends bitching about me, getting more mad until she finally opened up.

I was ok, no problem, we can do a,b,c d why didn't you ask me before getting mad talking to your friends first? :crickets: Next time talk to me first and not your friends. End of discussion and everything is good. Women

Our fun starts at 9 when the oldest is in bed. We stay up to midnight on weekends having drinks and watching movies. We do the occasional date night (once a month). What I do miss is travel by ourselves but that will come in a few years when our kids are old enough to stay a weekend with our family. Both mid 30s for the record.
