My wife and I were talking, and I told her that she spends way more of our money than I do. Long story short, I was boasting and told her that if I were single I could make a budget that would allow me a house, and still save on 35k a year. I honestly think I can. Do yall believe you could.

Also, she said yea but you wouldn't be able to have any "fun" money and I told her that I could have $300 a month for play money. She is terrible with money so I feel she thinks you must make 140k plus as a household to live comfortable.

What kind of a question is this....

There are millions of people in america who live on less than that.

Yes but it would be a lot better to have a roommate in terms of size of living space for your money

Take-home or salary? I could easily live alone on 35k a year take-home but I wouldn't be super pumped about it.

Women have a way of "losing track" of spending the man's money. Welcome to marriage.

Easily as long as it weren't New York City or San Francisco.

Well I'm guessing 35k a year would be about 2k a month estimate.

$750 house note (small house remember your by yourself)
$80 electricity
$50 for live stream tv
$200 savings
$300 play money
$200 miscellaneous bills

And yo still have plenty money left over for food and gas.

Before or after taxes? No way I could live where I live for $35K before taxes. After taxes maybe, but it would be tough.
