Easter and Thanksgiving we stay home. The caveat being that my MIL lives with us and my wife's sister lives in our neighborhood. For Christmas, we head down to see my family in Louisiana for about a week, usually flying back home on Christmas Eve so we can have Christmas morning to ourselves.

Wife and I are separated, but when we were together, we just did Christmas and Thanksgiving at home. Her Mother is elderly and would come over sometimes, and neither one of my parents are around anymore.

I’m kinda jealous of those of you who have big families to get together with on holidays.

Odds and evens on years.

Thanksgiving with my family is on even years. She gets Christmas.

Odd years thanksgiving with her family and Christmas with mine.

Mostly with my wife's family because I like her family way better than mine.

Parents are in WI, so it's mostly with my in-laws. For Thanksgiving, we either host or we end up going on vacation somewhere. My MIL and FIL never married, so it's a nightmare on Christmas deciding which side gets what day (Christmas Eve or Day). Normally, my FIL has Christmas Day so of course my MIL gets pissed off that she doesn't get to see us that day. She normally throws a toddler sized temper tantrum and we reluctantly have her and her twice divorced ex, who she still sees all the time, gave her a free car, and he rents her the house she lives in, over for breakfast. We're trying to figure out how to tell the family that we're going to WI this year for Christmas because it may cause my MIL to have a stroke.
