Yeah, but they work traffic too hard. Especially Troop G. Don't know how it is in other parts of the state. They pick a town, blanket it and take people's money all day from that town. That is not admirable.

Lets slow down on the "they thought they were protected" stuff. just adds fuel to the fire. You aren't from there and have no idea how it really is

KATC said they spoke to the kids grandmother and they'd "just moved" here from Mississippi. How'd the cop get to hate the dad so quickly I wonder??

Long story short...

Marshals claimed they watched Few leave a bar and tried to pull him over on outstanding warrants. After a chase and cornering him, he put the car in reverse, and the marshals opened fire, killing the 6 year old and seriously wounding Few.

That's the marshals story....

The reality?

Dad's car was not cornered, but stopped at an intersection.
There were no outstanding warrants.
Dad didn't put the car in reverse.
Marshals were possibly out jurisdiction, handing out tickets and enforcing laws without the city council's approval.
No gun was found.
The dad and one of the marshals had beef, and the dad was worried for his life once he saw them coming.
The marshals are lead by an uncertified bus driver, and the marshals have refused to issue a report or be interviewed by anyone, including state police.

I am sure I missed a few details but that's basically the gist. You start to get the idea of how bad this is for these marshals.

Yeah, I agree with that sentiment. Hopefully a few rogue marshals don't disparage the image of the entire city and its people.

No, I'm talking about the investigative side of LSP. They definitely troll a lot for drugs and tickets but I am happy to say that they are not going to just lie and defend everything their cops do. There's cops on this board that were knighting hard for these cops. I believe in innocent until proven guilty but that's for the jury. These cops are already busted in multiple lies and at this point they don't deserve the benefit of doubt in terms of public scrutiny. They are supposed to be civil servants.

Mug shots have been posted on WAFB facebook page. Lots of insinuations that the mug shots were released so quickly due to the officers skin tone. Some people can't pass up the opportunity to make it about race

Every time I read an article about this shite, I see the picture of Jeremy in his car seat with that big grin on his face, and with younger children of my own, it really hits home. It is so tragic that his life was cut short by people in a profession* that he likely admired and viewed as heroes.

*I don't mean this as a knock on all law enforcement by any means, just pointing out that most 6-year old boys think cops and firefighters are the coolest people ever.

I am quite proud of the LSP today. I've mentioned before in some of my cop bashing threads that you never seem to see the state police trying to cover up their tracks and that they seem to be a trustworthy, professional outfit. These local cops are awful, but unfortunately many seem to think that local is better.

LSP only accepts and allows the best of the best to have the privilege calling themselves a Louisiana State Trooper. Whenever a trooper of theirs fricks up, complete scorched earth. They are a great organization and if I were in a LEO career, I would make every attempt I could to join them.

I would also like to plug Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office up there with LSP. Jeff Wiley has run a great agency and and they are the most professional and responsible of any local agency in the state. I never hear a bad peep out of them. Will be a sad day when Wiley retires.

People in the comments are blaming the father for running from the cops.

Meanwhile, those cops were just fricking charged with 2nd degree murder and attempted 2nd degree murder.

Watching the presser I couldn't help but be proud of LSP tonight. The Col. wasn't pulling any punches, and was clearly pissed. Also glad they handed this off to the AG's office. You can tell they want this case done with white gloves. It should be. I also admit I was a little skeptical about these marshals going down- for now anyway I was wrong.

That video has to be damning. If it comes out it will be bad.

I just get the impression that the fallout from this case will be big. LSP isn't playing around, and I wouldn't be surprised to see more people charged.

No, no they are not. The spokesman seemed to be boiling with anger and disappointment during the presser.

Devil's advocate here

Marshals roll up, flash lights, chase victims and then blast away while wearing body cam? May be more to story, maybe not. Did they already confess to charges or are they not talking

Marshels are fricked and should be if accounts of crime are accurate. But charges might be lessened as more facts come out

Edmonson made it seem there is enough evidence on the police body cams

Should have said "if it comes out before trial it will be bad"

The Col. made reference to that during the presser, saying he didn't want to talk abt it tonight and that it was one of the worst things he's ever seen. I am guessing it was pretty vital to getting the judge to sign the warrant.
