How is voodoo economics supposed to work if rich people don't spend their money? Every president since 1980 have practiced supply side economics; have they all been lying the entire time? If so, I feel so... betrayed. Sarcasm [ON] OFF

I think that unless one is born wealthy then perhaps they still have a fear (backs of their minds) of being poor again.

If I had a net worth of $100m I'd still have a very hard time spending $300k on a new Huracan. OTOH, spending $100k on a stereo wouldn't bother in the least as I would probably use it at least once a day. The Huracan would probably sit so long that it'd need to be on a battery tender.

Yea that's bs. I can guarantee you he is not bargain shopping trying to find the best deals. Chances are his wife wanted to go out and look for tv's, and he was like "frick it. I heard this Costcos place was pretty lowkey. Let's go there."

He is not one of us. He's not looking at the tvs like "well I really like TV A, it's the perfect size and by a good brand. But it is $40 higher than the budget I allocated for this. I wonder if I could find this same TV cheaper somewhere else."

Exactly.

Sure, some random well-off person in CCLA might be as well-off as they are because they drive reasonable vehicles and shop smart. But Mark fricking Zuckerberg is not still rich because he bought a bargain TV.

Someone on page 1 said Bill Gates does the same. BILL GATES is not rich because he likes to shop reasonably. He might enjoy doing it for the hell of it, but that is by no means the reason he is rich.

The reason Zuck has stayed rich is not because he knows how find great deals on items. He isnt a guy who has about 2-3 million, and has to be careful of his spending still. Whether he spends 400 on a tv or 650 on a tv it makes absolutely zero impact on his net worth.

If you stick to a budget, cut down in expenses, never eat out, get rid of cable, don't go to the movies, don't buy alcohol, and only buy off-brand/shop in clearance section. You too can be a billionaire.
