My last semester at Southeastern, our class took a field trip to the Walmart distribution center in Robert, LA. Guy told us that bananas are the biggest selling product and they have a RIDICULOUSLY huge room full of bananas. I wanna say it was close to 4 million bananas in this one room.

quote:They aren't get rich quick businesses by any means. It usually takes three generations of burials in a family to start making decent money.
I would love to know the profit margins in the funeral business
Plus you can't go around murdering folks to drive up your cases. Sure you can advertise but it is still the natural death rate that supplies the inventory.
And most businesses can't survive past a third generation anyway because the current generation is unwilling or doesn't know what the previous generations gave up to get that far.
Throw in the feast or famine cycles of dying and it's tough to pay people while it's slow. Add in 7 days a week on call, middle of the night body pickups and everyone wanting a weekend burial for grandpa.
In addition to all the hazardous waste handling of chemicals and bodily fluids not to mention worries of catching teh AIDS with every drop of blood. Plus the growth in cremations hitting your bottom line.
It's tough to keep the fun in the funeral business anymore.

It's still stupid expensive. We had a double funeral in the family last year. We already owned the plots and it was still nearly $20k for everything.
The coffin prices are just insane.
Bury my arse in a cardboard box, IDC.
Worst was it was a crypt and they can only put one in at a time so the other body had to go to a storage to decompose some. Very odd.
So the $6500 coffins are just for the ceremony?

But most coffins over $6500 are beautiful and a real man should go out in style.

I figure that detergents have a high profit margin as well.
