The rational is they can set the price wherever they want as long as people keep buying.

Pardon my confusion bc the whole thread is confusing.
Headline is about Mark Richt and gas prices in California & OP posted a link to an article talking about banning Natural Gas hookups to fight climate change. The picture & quote have nothing to do with the link?

don't worry it's not you. It is a joke that was outdated and played out a few months after it started which was ooooh about a decade ago. I don't blame you for being confused.

Eat a dick, you leftists overwhelmingly voted to do this to yourselves, your family, and your countrymen. But hey, no mean tweet’s don’t fill your gas tanks.

Hey dumbfrick, you called them a Pariah upon the world less than 6 months ago and they won’t return your phone calls. They’re literally Kings upon this Earth thanks to oil, this should end well.

I also hope and pray gas gets to at least $10/gallon.

This is the only way people will wake the frick up and throw the Democrats/liberals and their policies onto the ash pile of History.

If it has to take pain instead of logic/common sense to do it, so be it. We will all be better off in the long run.

There’s a lot of good working people in California that aren’t deserving of this and didn’t vote for Brandon. Not everyone can move to a better state. I am not happy to see anyone have to pay these outrageous prices

My family is one of them that didn’t vote for Biden. For all of the dumbass comments about hoping we see $10 are you ready to eat $8-9 because you will be. Plus you’re completely screwed with diesel costs transporting goods from the West to the East. We don’t feel that like you do. But yeah, stick it to us it won’t impact you at all..

$8.74 for a pack of Marlboros is almost as shocking as $8 gas.

If California has not already raised their exorbitant taxes, which I don't think they have, how are prices $10 per gallon in CA and $4 per gallon in LA? Other than just jacking shite up and seeing how much people will pay, how is gas $10 in CA and much much less elsewhere? That is my inquiry.

Gas is one of those things that takes time for the market forces to act on price changes. But yes when gas prices go high people eventually drive less and start looking to more fuel efficient vehicles. Its not something that happens over night. in todays car market it will probably take a bit longer than it usually does.

Gas isn't 10 dollar here.....

It's about 1.50 more, on average, than Louisiana.

they actually do have the highest taxes on gas. So thats why their prices are higher than the rest of the country.

That shite blew my mind the entire time I lived there. I could SEE the Circle K down the road where the gas was 25 cents cheaper

some people already mentioned, but the average price in California is only like $6.50 or, so its not way more than most other states. they do have the highest taxes, they also have some special requirements for fuels that limit how many refineries actually care to meet their specs vs other states. Plus Chevron's Richmond Refinery just ended a couple month long strike a week or so ago, so thats likely why bay area prices are in the $8s.
