About 30 minutes ago a video posted on YouTube saying that in Australia 3 Marines died and 23 were injured in a training accident, due to a plane crash. I assume the plane is the V-22 Osprey.

RIP

This is an Osprey in case anyone doesn't know what they look like. It's had a sketchy history.

All of the “sketchy” history has been almost exclusively pilot error caused.

The aircraft itself is actually pretty solid.

yup... and from what I understand the maintenance is an order of magnitude more difficult than any other aircraft

Negative. In the 90’s and early 2000’s it was almost exclusively design flaws that were the culprit. It’s since been fixed and is a very reliable airframe.

Yeah and I think he’s an aircraft mechanic so it’s definitely our fault

Flew on an Osprey once back in 2016, worst flight I've ever been on.

Been on an osprey with marines in Darwin during exercises before and that aircraft is absolutely terrifying to fly on

Those are the worst designed aircraft ever, can’t auto rotate like a helicopter or glide like a plane. They crashed all the time when I was in. Rip marines.

I understand training and signing the dotted line. But this aircraft is garbage. My nephew flies them and says they are very mechanic dependent. To many loving parts! Get this shite figured out USMC!

Navy has decided it's capabilities outweigh the inherent problems of the airframe.

God bless these deceased Marines and pray comfort for their families. May those injured heal quickly and completely.

Semper Fi brothers.

How many have to die before admitting the Osprey is a POS?
