Hot take - I prefer the day parades than night. Maybe I'm getting old.

It started after Endymion was forced to use the Uptown route after Katrina. All the Chads did the Orleans Ave. setup on St. Charles and poisoned it for the rest of us.

That was going on way before Katrina...

Sorry someone stole your spot... Get out there earlier...

We haven't caught a parade on St Charles in a few years, started hitting Magazine, much better crowd...

I would absolutely be out every day if I lived in New Orleans and it was as simple as fixing a drink and throwing on shoes to walk there. It's a much more difficult production when you're from elsewhere, even with a hotel room.

I agree. When I lived in New Orleans, I lived 1 short block off St. Charles at Marengo. So easy to walk back and forth during parades or in between them. After I moved away, I went back multiple times and stayed with friends. It got old. Up before the sun to get packed up and to our location. It wasn't nearly as much fun due to the hassle.

Agreed. Tents and tarps need to go. The amount of unnecessary space they take up on the neutral ground is ridiculous. I shouldn’t have to tiptoe and ask to walk across a tarp and under a tent so I can cross a public street to get to a bathroom.

I thought they weren’t going to allow all the tents and place saving this year.

That was last year. This year they threw their hands up and said the nopd lacks the manpower to deal with it - probably related to the new responses to the terrorist attack.

Honestly getting around the tarps and tents is much easier than getting through the chairs on the sidewalk side. I had no problems going back and forth across Napoleon all weekend. If they didn't have tarps and tents, it would just be loaded up with ladders, chairs, and ice chests instead. This is why these silly bans don't do anything. People that want to put effort into having space always will.

This, also chairs and ladders holding spots. I got to St Charles at 630am yesterday and it took me about 15 minutes to find an open spot next to a tree. There wasn’t hardly anyone out there, just a bunch of tarps, chairs, and ladders. If I’m willing to show up earlier than you are willing to roll out of bed, then I shouldn’t have to search for a spot.

Reminds me of turds saving chairs at resorts. Wake up at 7am, grab multiple pool chairs and drape towels over them, go back to your room to get ready for the day, go out for breakfast, don't arrive back at the pool until 11am.

That sounds like a good idea.

How difficult is it to find a place to lock your bike and how close is it normally to the parade route?

But you didn't show up earlier than them

Honestly you should be happy you found any space. 6:30 on Sunday is super late to go out and try to find space. And I'm calling BS on "hardly anyone out there." I got out there around 6 to relieve others at my spot and I didn't see much of anything unattended.

Iris and Tucks >>>>>> Endymion

Not according to the people who camp out on Orleans, along Carrolton and down Canal...

Yep, the campers moved as far as Mandina's on Canal... Maybe further now since the last time I saw...

and the people who are out there at the crack of dawn to get a spot.

Four hours before Endymion even started, there were already thousands of people from Marconi to Canal... Especially along the Samdi Gras Fest...

They couldn't give two fricks about Iris and Tucks...
