I agree but as long as they keep electing retarded people it’s only going to get worse. And you know that will never change. If your black and promise to start some programs you will get elected. Like that will change anything. Remember the the dumbass that’s in their right now said this “ Nothing stops a bullet like a job?” or the time when another mayor said NOLA was a chocolate city. You can’t help stupid

Getting closer to an accurate answer.

Though pacing isn’t even that far off.

Was a little behind through the year, and january had some stall in pace with omicron concerns - but it’s not terribly far off. I’ll also note many hotels just had among their best nye/sugar bowls after similar set up.

The words fully non refundable have some folks holding off but it’s pretty darn close to a normal year with rooms sold, very strong rates, cancellations are not happening…. and most hotels aren’t sold out 6 months in advance normally.

Some people are scared, some are waiting until last minute. On the other hand... a lot of people are more than ready to have a Mardi Gras... even if it's a bit subdued compared to most years.

I won't even pretend to know how the hotel business model is working these days, but they sure as hell aren't offering any real discounts before or after Mardi Gras.

I was checking around for some weekends at the Windsor Court and even the two weekends after Mardi Gras were over $400 a night.

And there is no doubt about it, the parades will roll.

If the parades didn’t roll it would signal a colossal failure on latoya and her appointees part.

She won’t be embarrassed like that.

Airlines are running sales now also. Travel is down. It’s been down since Covid appeared. This is not surprising considering the general situation in this country and every other county in the world.

And I'm telling you I've talked to 7 different hotels (I work for a technology company that develops systems for a lot of hospitality companies including hotels) that have flat out admitted they've never had availability like this a month out from Mardi Gras.

I’ll say I’ve been a part of managing rates and inventory for Mardi Gras at multiple Hilton properties in downtown New Orleans during my career, without offering up my current role (no longer with Hilton, but have seen a variety of this years city data and travel expectations in a different capacity)

I'll admit I'm worried about crime as well with NOPD being at critically low levels.

I live in the burbs. I'm concerned about crime... but I also know the places to go where crime is less likely to occur.

My concern, honestly, is the cutting down of the routes means people will be compressed into less and less space. It's already stupid crowded for the bigger parades. Now, you are packing more people in per block?

Combine that with the fact that people today are all more short tempered than probably ever before, and the fact many people are scared... and I think it may result in a parade experience that isn't exactly laid back and enjoyable.

I'm not at all worried about getting shot or carjacked. I am worried that some dumbass with a short temper will start a fight. I am worried that in a tight crowd, someone "hears" something, freaks out, and starts a crowd push.

And that's why I'm strongly considering not going to any parades in the city, this year.

You are correct.
I work downtown and have been walking under and around the parade view stands for a month now as they are going up.

And I hope LoToya gets drunk and falls face first out of her viewing stand and it's caught on live TV.
