Great place for out of town workers to go grab lunch on the river, bringing in more traffic. Just like I did today. Love it over there. Would def move there.

Lets swap places. If you're going to bitch about the traffic on the north shore, I'd love to hear you whine about traffic in BR.

Yes, like a toll tunnel under the river that comes out at Guste Island.

I left Madisonville for DFW in 2018. My commute is way better now, which I didn't expect.

First and foremost there needs to be a feeder road that goes from 59 to Goodbee on both side that ensures no traffic between the two towns is required to get onto the interstate.

No person driving Houston to Pensacola should be in traffic in Mandeville LA, because every family in Mandeville is going to Target and Chic-Fil-A.

Second, much more difficult issue, is the draw bridge in Madisonville being the only way over south of I-12.

Edit: since people like my idea, I drew a mock-up based solely on plans drawn up sitting in traffic. If you just simply started with this small stretch you’d solve the problem of “Having to get on the interstate to get 1-mile”. You’d probably have to remove the median between east/west bound I-12 to make it fit.

The blame lies squarely on the St Tammany council for continuing to allow building permits, especially for high density apartments, etc. west of the Tchefuncte.
This should have been slowed years ago until infrastructure could catch up, but it is still WIDE OPEN.

I find it mind blowing that the entire Mandeville/Covington region was basically built on 2 main roads. They never foresaw that would be a problem?

BINGO! Strip mall after strip mall. They build them before they fill them. Less than a handful of developers here. Whose pockets are they lining?

Well...no one really expected Katrina would move so many people across the lake.

I remember when a lot of the I-12 exits around there still had cattle guards.

Can go 59 to 21 thru covington if 22 is backed up and i12 is backed up.

It sucks but beats sitting in non moving traffic on 22 or i12.
