A black guy involved in a fight that results in a shooting in north BR is going to be called a thug by most on here

With no other details? Some would. Not most. But wait...

A black guy involved in a fight

That’s not what people knew in the Sims case. People knew he was a college student with a famous alumni father and that no drugs or alcohol were causative.

Suppose “this board” (that awful use of collective identity) heard news about a fight that broke out in Shenandoah where one guy shot another guy. Don’t you think this board would make assumptions about them being “white trash” or some such negative stereotype?

My point is that details matter. If a “fight” breaks out between two dudes and one of them gets shot, that scenario is not part of the “normal culture” of the people who post on this board.

Lacking many details, assumptions will be made which will be culture specific depending on the neighborhood. That’s just how humans roll, unless they’ve trained themselves to consciously not jump to conclusions. When I saw humans, I mean blacks, whites, asians, hispanics, you name it.

Not exactly.

1) You’re forgetting that people knew more details about the victim in this case. Not just that he was an LSU star athlete. If he was just Johnny Noname who was a black LSU college student and the fight wasn’t over drugs and he wasn’t drunk and he was unarmed and he was in a fistfight then got shot by the other dude, people here would not likely call him a thug.

2) You weren’t just making a matter-of-fact statement. You were accusing the posters on this board of racism. My point was that it’s not racist to jump to assumptions based on limited details. It’s part of being human, of all races.

So my point is - quit being a race-baiting racistz

$350,000 bail

If I were the judge I would write him back and say,

"After careful consideration of your case and this lovely note, I have decided to change your bail. It is now $500,000.00."

Sincerely,

Judge Johnson

Tell him if he can beat Skyler Mays to 11 one on one, ok. If not, he pleads guilty to the 2nd degree murder charge and saves the taxpayer money on trying his arse.

Sad that his son is going to grow up with his father in prison for life, but that's what happens when you murder someone.

Hopefully his father's sentence will serve as a reminder of what NOT to do.
