HENRYS LAKE — Gregory “Thor” Godar thought he was going to die.

As the 500-pound bear slashed his back, swung him to the ground and bit his stomach, he looked into its eyes and was sure this was the end.

“I said to myself, ‘Well, at least I’m getting killed by a pretty bear.’ She was very beautiful,” Godar says.

Baw had a pretty good attitude about it

Make it a movie and put Leo in it. He's already got experience with that.

The bear didn't "attack" him she wanted him out of the area because her cubs were close.

Not saying he did anything wrong because he took the correct precautions (bells, making noise, etc.) but he managed to surprise her and her cubs. Most likely the bear were distracted or she couldn't corral the cubs quick enough to get them out of there and then she had to do something.

He is lucky it wasn't worse.

The couple says this won’t stop them from hiking, but they will now carry large cowbells on their backs and bear spray in their hands.

This'll last a few weeks then it'll wear off and they'll say "screw it."

If you've got to walk around with huge cow bells and hold a can the entire time you might as well stay home and watch Nat Geo.

Fine, I guess I'll cancel my trip to NOLA.

He survived a grizzly shooing him off. If the thing really attacked him his body would be in about 5 pieces

Might not kill it but at least it would leave with a couple of leaks.
