Surprised they don't keep oxygen tanks on hand for this type of situation.

I've been caving once, never again. I'm a bigger dude when I'm not fat (and I'm currently fat), and the things people squeeze through is just insane.

This story is from 2019, but this dude and his gf were hiking the Narrows in winter, and one of his legs got stuck in quicksand, and he was stuck for 10 hours before being freed.

Homer resident here! It’s pretty beautiful up thisaway. Were they stayin across the bay? That’s pretty cool, small world.

Hope is freaking gorgeous, I go there a few times every summer. Good stuff for sure. But there are clear signs warning about the mud flats. Gotta be a shite way to go. The whole turnagain arm is dangerous like that.

Thing about it is there is probably a limit to what they can do when it gets up to the chest area . Heard of one lady breathing through a hose after completely submerging. Anything strong enough to pull her out would kill her.

when we were up there my wife wanted to go the the restaurant that had the replica of the bus from the movie Into the Wild, I don't know if I'd ever heard the story before that, found out all about it while we were there, of course we had to watch the movie when we got home, everyone seems to consider that dude a folk hero of some sort, I think he was a dumbass, among other things

I used to have 5 acres in Windy Hills in that area. Just north of the park and right off the Stampede Trail. Sold it during the divorce..

If youre ever looking for hunting or fishing property, Alaska DNR and the AK Mental Health Trust sell over the counter land in several locations.

So you think he would survive sucking air from a water hose for 8 hours in 38 degree water? I had the same thought for a second, but no way that could work with the average joe.

I believe he was referring to jetting him out, that's about the only way to free someone from that

When I was a little kid, near death experiences with quicksand were omnipresent on tv. Gilligan’s Island, Batman and Robin, Scooby Doo, Tarzan … I thought for sure it was one of the more common causes of meeting your maker for anyone who spent much time in the outdoors, and I had a healthy respect for any suspicious looking boggy areas in the woods.

Then it just disappeared as a threat.
