Defense rests, no rebuttal.

How come you can’t see when the main kid (who died) got stabbed in the video?

He must be here legally if he actually caught a charge.

No.

Correct. That doesnt make him less scared. You have a group of all American dudes surrounding you, you are going to feel a certain way. Then something bad happens he can only assume hes going to get the shaft.

So you think they saw the knife then attacked him? The kids were escalating the situation then decide to attack the guy holding a knife? I've done some dumb shite in my life but...…wow.
Just walk away and let it go.
That is what normal people would do but you get into groups like that, and they are all acting a certain way, no one steps up. Its a mob mentality. All it took was for 1 of those idiot kids to stay, ok stop, blow it off, let it go. But they didn't. They escalated it. Look up the Bobby Kent murder. Same thing. All it takes is one. Not one did it. They all "fed" off of each other. Its the ultimate frick around find out. Be the smart one. WALK away and if you can, get your group to walk away as well.

I think they overcharged with Murder 1, but I don’t think he will walk away either. Regardless of jury instructions, at the end of the day a jury is going to do what they think is “fair,” and probably convict him on at least one of the lesser charges.

there's a lot of things he did that make it much worse for him, but none of them really should matter in what actually transpired and how he will be judged by the jury.
He was not the aggressor.
While he took his knife out his pocket before he was hit, no one knew he had it, and he didn't use it until after he was punched in the face, knocked to the ground, and punched again in the face while on the ground, in water. Only after that did he stab someone who was coming at him immediately after he was just hit and thrown to the ground. And to say that kid was comign to break it up, like the idiot prosecutor tried to say, was a blatant lie when you can clearly see yellow shorts put his hands around Miu's neck and get stabbed. At that point, it's reasonable for him to continue to defend himself, regardless if anyone else against him has a weapon. When it's a mob like that against 1 guy, they are all the weapon.
If he had just told the truth after all of this, i doubt this even goes to trial. It's like what a parent tells a kid all the time, lying will always make things much worse. He shouldn't be convicted of manslaughter b/c he was a moron on how he handled the situation with police after he legally defended himself against a mob of people that attacked him first.

is he pulled out the knife at about 1:43 of the video
IF he has the knife at 1:43 (its unclear) he has it unfolded and in his right hand. At 1:42 is the first time contact is initiated and its from one of the girls. You can see him unfold the knife AFTER contact has been made.
Dude was clearly intoxicated and bold, probably irritated at the piss ant drunk American teenagers. But it was not until he was assaulted that he retaliated, it could also be argued for self defense because once they backed off, he did not press the attack.
This video is clear self defense. He thought one of them had the phone or that it was under water where they were, why would he leave? Then they started calling him names and heckling him. Again, emboldened and intoxicated, why would he walk away? Him being the older adult I could see him not wanting to get punked by these kids.
Could he have walked away? Yes
Could they have been more cooperative and left him alone? Yes
They were CLEARLY looking to bully and harass this foreigner.
Should he have walked away? Well, hindsight is 20/20 on that one. He has just as much right to be there and look for the phone as they do to harass him. The issue is when physical contact started and the herd mentality kicked in. He defended himself once they made it physical. That is clearly self defense. He's a foreigner being bullied and called names, ganged up on and then thrown to the ground and punched, the river adds yet another life threatening hazard. There is no telling what these irate drunken teenagers are going to do.
They fricked around and found out and its OBVIOUS.
Cameraman should be charged with significant crimes for inciting violence. If one person decided to actually help the man look for the phone or be cooperative in any way, this doesn't happen. The kids were assholes, period.
As for him lying, who wouldn't in that situation? An immigrant, drunken, with an ingrained distrust of government and Americans, self preservation was critical to him. Should he have lied? No, but I can see why he did.
Also, just in principal alone, the morons shouting "deadass" and "on God bro" I hope they stubbed a toe in the river.

I saw somewhere that he immigrated to the US when he was 14 or 15.
He's 54 now.
He's not really a foreigner anymore. although to anyone that doesn't know him and sees and hears him talk, they would assume he's a foreigner.

You’re right, but at the end of the day it’s up to the jury, and they could definitely convict him of a lesser charge just because they “feel like he should get something.” It might not hold up in appeal, but it could happen in this case. IMO his best bet is that 1/12 just digs their heels in and refuses to convict on anything.

Totally unrelated to the actual sequence of events whether he is found guilty or not. What he told the cops had no bearing on the outcome of the stabbing event and who is at fault.
Sure it is lol
If I stabbed a bunch of people and I made up a story that said I had nothing to do with it, then I’m in big trouble.

Not for murder. People lie when they’re scared. It doesn’t change what happened.
lol.

Because I think it happens just off camera. I’m pretty sure when you see the hands with the bracelet grab at his throat, that’s when he sticks the kid who died. At least I do remember someone saying in trial that those are the deceased kid’s hands

Ok it must happen after the yellow shorts gets gutted I’m guessing

From my understanding yes. That’s part of why I think he is way overcharged and should walk. Both the gutting and the death are lucky(unlucky) hits. I don’t think intent was there for either of those. And if not those I don’t see why it would for the others
He also didn’t continue after anyone once the group backed off of him.

No yellow shorts testified at trial. He’s the one that got split open, but he made it through
