Based in what you just said he should not have been released.
I’m actually not arguing that point. I think reasonable people can disagree about where to draw the line. However, propaganda pieces like this are used in an attempt to fully dismantle any move to a presumption of non monetary bond, and I think that’s bullshite.

The. citizenry who vote for this shite deserve everything they get and more. These types of laws and the trend towards “progressive” (read regressive) district attorneys will be the downfall.
There is no reason or logic behind these trends and the people will reap what they sow.

There is no reason or logic behind moving away from presumptive monetary bail instead of using a risk/threat assessment? Weird. Someone should probably let the entire federal judiciary know.

Not up on federal criminal law but the offenses that it applies to in Nee York are ridiculous. I doubt a bank robber would not be automatically released in the federal system. No issue with risk assessment for non-violent offender. Otherwise.....

I didn’t read any posts past the OP. I just posed my question that came to mind. Read some of the article and saw the “Threatening note”.
I didn’t think we were arguing at all.
You answered my question is all I know.

But a note of threat was used and a teller can only assume the robber is armed. A threat of violence with no weapon should make no difference robbing a bank, business, or person.
