Why should you get a lighter sentence because the person you tried to murder was saved by medical personnel? If you shoot someone in the torso and the surgeons save them, you shouldn’t be rewarded with a lighter sentence because you’re a bad shot. You fricking intended to kill them! You should be charged with the same sentencing guidelines as murder!
