One man was killed and two others were wounded by gunfire after an altercation at a Baton Rouge hookah lounge early Saturday morning, Baton Rouge police said.

Derrick Johnson, 40 of Silverleaf Drive in Baton Rouge, was killed in the shooting. The incident occurred about 2:40 a.m. at a business located at 8345 Florida Boulevard, listed on Facebook under the name B.R. Hookah Lounge.

The shooting occurred after a group of people, including Johnson, was escorted out of the lounge after a fight, according to a release from BRPD. Johnson allegedly pulled out a gun and attempted to re-enter the business.

When security officers attempted to stop Johnson, he threatened them with the gun, police said, at which point at least one security guard opened fire.

Johnson was shot multiple times and died on scene. Two others, who have not been identified, were also shot and hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, police said. Check back for updates.

We can add another red dot to the map around the Florida Blvd area. Pretty soon it will be all red.

These stupid fricks have to be all macho and they can't leave well enough alone. If dumbass just leaves the premises like he was told to, then he would have lived to see the sun rise today. But no...apparently he felt disrespected and just had to go back inside.

Speaking of Florida Blvd., the stretch from Sherwood Forest to Denham Springs is downright depressing.

What a coward. In the past if people got upset they got in a fight, one on one.

Now these little girls either pull a gun because they are scared to handle it themselves or they get 6 of their friend and jump a guy.

If he was stupid enough to think thats a reason to pull a gun then the world is better off without him in it.

Businesses can't serve alcohol past 2 a.m., but they can stay open as long as you want. Also, not even sure if this particular establishment sells alcohol.

Being disrespected is a big deal to some people. So big, they’re willing to die over it.

I just can’t wrap my head around such a mindset.

Just looked at the pics of this place.
Pretty much the club after the club.
Probably some molly/ecstasy plus patrons sneaking drinks in type place.

Evidently enough to be involved in a fight and require an armed security guard. Though, pretty much everywhere on Florida Blvd needs one or two.
