When the magnet quenches it liquifies air by the magnet. Maybe someone quenched it and finished him off.

Damage to the magnet room is kind of rare, it happens when the cryogen vent is improperly installed or is defective in some way which allows the super cooled and expanding helium gas to vent into the room instead of out vent. The sudden increase in room pressure can buckle walls, and blow down ceilings. I was involved in one vent failure, the cost of the room damage, and ramping the magnet was around $250K. In that case the vent failure was caused by a defect in the vent piping and the manufacture eventually paid the bill. Recovery from a quench with no damage, or unusual magnet issues can be done for under a $100K if a manufacturer does it. If you contract it out to a non OEM service provider it can be done for under $50k, usually way under.

MRI magnets are mostly of superconducting design. They require liquid helium to maintain the very low (-452F) temperature needed for the magnet coils to be superconductive. To quench a magnet a small amount of heat is generated inside the magnet which starts a reaction that rapidly vaporizes the liquid helium inside the magnet into helium gas. When a quantity of liquid is turned to gas the volume increases greatly, rather than letting this expanding gas be trapped in the magnet resulting in a explosion, a elaborate venting system is used to vent the expanding gas outside the magnet room. Under normal circumstances no gas of any kind will escape into the magnet room during a magnet quench. There have been a relatively small number of cases where the vent system has failed during a quench.

That is for the initial purchase of the entire system, just the physical magnet without the rest of the system is probably in the neighbor hood of $300k, but it depends on if it is new or used and who you buy it from. Then there is the labor and other expenses involved in physically replacing it, many variables involved.
