she climbed on his lap. or do you think he grabbed her, lifted her up and "made" her mount him?

So the grandparents want their grandkids to spend their entire formative years without their father? Their daughter got drunk too and consented to ride with her husband because she herself couldn't drive. And they know their daughter is likely spinning in her grave about them recommending the maximum sentence and effectively shutting the father out of her kids' lives.

Isn't this how everyone does it?

I agree. She wasn't a victim, but a willing participant in their reckless action.
Sending him to jail doesn't rehabilitate the situation.
What's the logic, keep him away from his kids so they aren't frickups too? Fat Chance either way.

The article confuses me because it says he pulled over.
If I had to guess, the police report probably included what he said happened, however; it was obvious what really happened, because it would be impossible to run a car 40 feet into a canal with the vehicle not in motion.

The facts are that he killed his wife via negligent vehicular homicide and put the lives of every person he passed on the roads that night in danger. So I saaaaaaayyyy...frick him. Rot in jail you PoS.

Prosecutors, however, felt the 10-year minimum recommended sentence was too harsh and recommended a seven-year term. But Johnson noted Notebaert’s previous criminal history, including charges of cocaine possession, burglary and grand theft, when handing down his sentence.
Minimum recommended is 10 years, prosecutors thought that was harsh and recommended 7 years, judge cites defendant's multiple previous serious offenses....and gives him even less time. How the frick?

I thought the same thing; especially when you add
So it's the most senseless & tragic acts, you consider his previous history; then give him 1/2 the minimum sentence?

I had this ole crazy X girlfriend who would get drunk and try this shite all the time, we would be five minutes from the house and she'd start trying to climb in my lap.

The wife is just as much to blame as the husband.

Then, during their ride home after the show, the couple — with Matthew Notebaert behind the wheel — pulled over and started getting intimate.
So did they get back on the road?
I'm confused with that story.
