If I was to come up behind his bully now and bat him in the head, then kneecap him when he is K.O.'ed, does swirly guy go to jail for it?

He has set himself up as a person with a lifelong grudge against the Superintendent and would surely be suspect number 1 if there were no witnesses.

Yeah I doubt that. What exactly has changed?

In my experience, people don’t change, they get more the same as they get older.

"I had kids that bullied me, and even the coaches. I had no one to turn to"

Now we're bullying him for being bullied. Sometimes your purpose in life is simply to make everyone else feel better about themselves.

Only if they never leave their comfort zone.

The post-college centinel was not the same as the pre-college. The post-Army centinel damn sure is not the same as the post-college centinel.

your experience

Plenty of people change from the time they were 12 years old. shite high school might change them a good amount. Add to that college, a job, wife, kids, etc

That might mold an a-hole kid to a very humble and productive adult

And this happened in jr high? Yeah, at that age, you don’t really change much.

How emotionally stunted do you have to be to think people don't change between 7/8th grade and adulthood. I personally know several people who were nice guys in jr. high but are total a-holes as adults and a couple of specific guys who were major jerks but became some of the nicest people I know.

Non narcissistic people have epiphanies all the time. Often after they have children. Even the occasional narcissist gets a sudden realization of who they are and works to change.

I went from being a child to an adult. I completed high school. I lost a parent. I got 2 college degrees. I started a career. I had 15 years of learning and growth experiences.

Saying that children are the same as adults, and people don't change as they grow up isn't even a valid opinion. Its fricking super moronic.

I think this says more about you than it does anyone else. Children (even high school kids) think they are the center of the universe. Perspectives change as you grow older and have children of your own.

I'm not excusing shoving someones head in a urinal (and I never would have even contemplated doing something like that), but it is clear that people can, and do, change as time goes on.

Emotionally stunted huh? I think my point is very logical and not very difficult to arrive at.

I’m not trying to say that those same types of people don’t grow up and stop doing childish things to other people. Obviously this instance is something that kids unfortunately do, and is a childish example. But those same people the commited these types of acts are most likely the people that are assholes that I encounter every single day.

Look, chances are, a kid that is assaulting a kid in junior high was and will continue to be an a-hole for the rest of his life. Not sure why so many here want to challenge that, unless you were that a-hole in jr high and are trying to rationalize as an adult

Interesting choice of words. Do you believe narcissistic people ever change that particular trait? And do you believe that narcissistic behavior also leads to other sorts of behaviors? That is, do you think narcissistic people tend to be bigger assholes than non.

And damn you for making me type narcissistic so many damn times.

Yeah none of that describes how you fundamentally changed as a person.

disagree, when I got to jhs there must have been something in the water(adolescent testosterone/hormones swirling?) seems like almost every guy that had been a fun person a year ago had developed an edge and had to prove his badassedness, there was lots of bullying, including bully on bully crime, there was a fight at lunchtime every day, and the slightest accidental touch would provoke the dreaded gauntlet throwdown of "meet me at the dome at three!"(a basketball court just off of the school property,) seems like most everyone got that out of their system by the time we reached hs

I understand that people develop and gain perspective. I’m not arguing that. What I am saying is if you are an a-hole when you are a kid, chances are you will be an a-hole when you are 35, 50, etc. the kids that were nice to each other are likely still that way.

In other words, the a-hole adults on this earth today were likely a-hole kids. There is a far greater chance of that than them being the kids that kept to themselves or the friendliest kids in class.

So back to my original point, this dude deserved to get called out regardless of how much time has passed.

After 35 years, the only way to defeat a bully is to show that you've been more successful at life with a shite ton of money, a hot wife, a fleet of cars, and several mansions.

I think if you ticked that up to high school it would be harder to argue. Back in the olden days, when I grew up, Jr. High is typically a transitional period for people so there was a lot of this type of behavior that ended up being the last gasps of that kid trying to figure out how to move toward adulthood.

I will say that most adult a-holes were probably jr. high a-holes. I did not actually click on the link to see what the accuser actually said so I am not sure what the "assault" consisted of. If it was serious physical assault, you are probably correct. If it was mostly intimidation and verbal abuse, I'm not certain.

Not me, I was too soft hearted to really pick on anyone, I've always generally liked people, I never had an overtly aggressive personality, and I was occasionally the target of the bullying type. Fortunately for me, though I was not a really big kid, I was big enough, taller than most, to give them pause if they were looking for an easy mark.

Specifically chosen because I do not think most will change. It requires both recognition of the problem and acknowledgement that it is a problem. Both things a narcissist is less likely to do.

Thanks for that, made me actually laugh out loud.
