A German man was dragged beneath a tram for more than 3 km (2 miles) and through seven stations, as passengers heard his screams but did not initially realize where the noise was coming from, police said on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old lost both legs and an arm in the 10-minute ordeal that left a trail of blood through the city of Dortmund. It ended when a passenger finally pulled the streetcar's emergency brake, Bild newspaper reported.

The man was unconscious when he was extricated and taken to a hospital in critical condition.

"Several passengers later said they had heard his cries for help but couldn't tell where they were coming from," Dortmund police said in a statement.

Even if this was posted already, which it hasn't, it is safe to say "German."

If someone is screaming help, is it just me, or do you instinctively just stop the train? Why wait a few minutes to see where its coming from?

It's gonna cost that railroad an arm and a leg even to settle.

Dragged vs. drug

In all main varieties of English, dragged is the standard past tense and past participle of the verb drag. Drug is a dialectal variant that appears in many areas of the U.S. Though drug is common in these areas and cannot be considered wrong, it might be seen as out of place in more formal writing, where the traditional dragged is always the safer choice.

Looks like I'm ok there dipshit. Try again.

It appears to be dragged but drug isn't wrong.
