i warn my employees about this all the time because they have become lax about everyday operations, I may get them to sign some waivers this week.

He must have picked up numerous bundles of sheetrock which extended above the fork rack and just tilted backwards by taking off too fast or something.

they aren't dangerous at all. Human error/lack of knowledge of the machine/ bad safety procedures accounts for 99.99999% of injuries and deaths on trucks.

Had a buddy who had an actual forklift fall on him back in October. Seeing stuff like this makes me realize how big a miracle it is that he's alive and not paralyzed.

Very dangerous.

Your larger operations from plants like exxon and dow to grocery/shopping places like costco and sams club have well-developed SOPs and safety programs in place as well as protected cages for the operator.

Not so much in small shops.

Okay let's say the potential exposure to hazard is HIGH.

You can get just as much accomplished with that waiver by wiping your arse with it.

Yeah, on a standard forklift, the cage above the operator's head will protect them for a large, broad object, but if it comes down vertically, like a piece or two of heavy sheetrock can, it could be deadly ..
