Man, 60, robbed at gunpoint of $980 cash, NOPD reports

LINK

A 60-year-old man reported to New Orleans Police that he was robbed at gunpoint Saturday night (Feb. 10) of nearly $1,000 in cash while walking down Gentilly Boulevard. The armed robbery was among eight crimes included in the NOPD'S major offense log released Sunday.

According to a preliminary police report, the man told authorities he was walking in the 2000 block of Gentilly Boulevard shortly before 7:30 p.m. when a man holding a gun got out of a dark-colored SUV. He demanded that the victim get inside the vehicle, and then made the victim empty his pockets.

The victim complied and the suspect took the victim's credit card and $980 in cash, according to the NOPD report.

Gentilly/Paris area. If you really had that much cash, would you take a cab?

If this was the only serious criminal activity committed over Mardi Gras weekend than it’s a win for the city this.

It's not. I just thought this was a particularly weird story.

Anybody that carries more than $40 cash on their person is planning on breaking the law. No other reason in today's society.

He was probably coming from the Fairgrounds and won some money. But I would still take a cab even if I lived a few blocks away with that amount of money.
