So abolish the police?

Or is the easier target to stop arresting people for weed?

Don't forget you vote for people that make laws that these police enforce.

Or you could do even better by hiring people with a moral compass and a sense of discretion (officer discretion IS a real thing) to not dogpile a grandfather walking his grandchild to school.

I love how it's a zero sum game with the bootlickers here.

*any slight towards an officer on duty who is very clearly doing the wrong thing*
BOOTLICKER: WHAT DO YOU MEAN, HE'S JUST DOING HIS JOB, WOULD YOU RATHER ABOLISH THE POLICE THEN? HUH? TOTAL ANARCHY THEN, EH?

I love how nobody in this thread has seen the bodycam footage yet but immediately people are melting about what happened here.

Never heard of Minden before. Sounds like a very boring place to live. Anyone here from there?

It's a nice small town in Northwest Louisiana, about 30 miles east of Shreveport.
When I say nice, I mean nice by Louisiana standards.

You can get some really good fried chicken from there. Cottons and Louisiana Fried Chicken are delicious.

I grew up in minden. It’s a quaint, clean town with a lot of nice neighborhoods. It has a great community, but you’re not wrong-it’s boring as frick

This. It’s nice for Louisiana standards but nothing to gush over. For Louisiana standards it’s very clean and safe compared to other cities that size

That fat frick, diabetic, morbidly obese, pos kicking him deserves to be put in Angola genpop with the video playing 24/7 the week prior. While I don’t know what lead up to this, there is absolutely zero reason for that fat pos to be kicking someone, when there are that many other cops on top of him. I’d place money that, that fat arse doughboy has a family member that got him that job..

My sentiments exactly

I lived in Minden for a while back in the 70s and it was a nice quiet town with a lot of nice people.
But this fat cop that was repeatedly kicking that guy... he better hope the guy doesn’t die are he will become Derek Chauvin 2.0 !

I don't think the current atmosphere is attracting top notch candidates.

That video looks bad. It will be worse when everyone finds out the poor bastard was having a seizure while they were brutalizing him.

For gods sake stop giving these protestors and anti police wackos ammunition guys.

It not about giving anyone ammo dipshit. It's about this particular situation.

I think they're much more professional at any rate.
I agree, when talking about rural areas. Small town PD's don't pay well, so they get the bottom of the barrel. I grew up in small towns.

I lived in Dallas for 28 years, saw a few bad cops, but always thought most were competent professionals.

They don't make it easy, I would abolish every municipal police force in the United States under 100k population.

Sheriffs departments are better

This is true. At least the sheriff is an elected official and thus has to answer to the voters. Theoretically anyway.

Our former sheriff of several decades is looking at a multitude of charges from the feds. Everyone with a lick of sense knew he was as crooked as the day is long, but he was an affable guy with a lot of friends - and he took care of base crime, other than the dealers that he ran protection for. shite doesn't always work.
