Shitbag perp took a dirt nap. Officer was former Ridgeland Chief. Came out of retirement to work for Madison PD.

A Madison police officer is dead after a domestic dispute in the Crossgates neighborhood of Brandon led to a hostage standoff Thursday morning, officials said. The suspect was shot dead and a Brandon police officer also was shot and injured in the incident.

Terrible. Isn’t that kind of foolery rare in Madison?

It didn't happen in Madison, it was in Brandon. It is rare for Brandon as well though.

While this is true, this happened nowhere near county line and county line isn't Madison.

Brandon is nice as well. Or was not that long ago. With Jackson so close though I’m sure it’s like fighting a losing battle.

Very.
Several reports indicate that the shooting was in Brandon. Madison PD tac unit was called to assist with a hostage situation which became a pair of gun battles - after the hostage was released.
It also indicates that a Brandon officer was seriously wounded.

Cop killer had a .308 rifle with a scope and a 9mm Glock. Repelled a drone and robot dog, survived a tear gas attack, and managed to kille a cop hiding behind a box truck later.

Will there be riots in the streets over this unjustified killing?

WLBT Article

This a link to a local news agency’s article on the standoff with a lot more information than the Clarion Ledger article in the OP. There is a picture of the house and it’s wild how much damage it sustained during the ordeal.

The POS was Gabriel Matthew Wilson.

Howard, Stephanie and Lacy Wilson live at that address.

The news said two females were there when Gabriel Matthew Wilson showed up "looking for a fight".

Same last name. Wonder if it was son. Damn. Just glad he let them go(one escaped early on).

Looks like the last name is a coincidence. The Courant article said one of the residents is believed to be his girlfriend. That would imply the other woman is her mom or sister.

I saw a video that was taken from down the street during the “shootout”. Seemed like there were probably a couple hundred rounds fired. I also saw the photo you are talking about and I was pretty surprised as well.

This sort of thing has happened in Brandon and Madison recently. All suspects white.

A prison escapee baracaded himself in a house in Brandon just a few weeks ago and engaged police in a gun battle. Suspect was killed and the house burned.

A Madison County deputy was paralyzed in a residential shootout like 5 or 6 years ago. Nice neighborhood too. It's also happened in Ridgeland recently, but I'm thinking it was at a business.

Ridgeland has an old section and newer section which are very different.
