It’s not though. If you are going to drink, just don’t drive. It’s pretty simple

Mingo,
So one drink means you shouldn’t drive?

I think he meant to say that 2 drinks isn't 2 drinks for everyone, in a given time period, depending on weight and food intake.

If you drink to the point you're just impaired, not even drunk, don't drive.

Most adults do this now.

One drink, sure. More than one, probably not. With the dozen of options to get home, there’s just no point.

I don’t care how well you “handle your liquor,” it’s just a needless risk to yourself and others.

Are the MADD people nuts? Of course, but I’m also fine with erring on the side of caution when deciding how much one can drink before getting behind the wheel of a 2 ton machine going 70mph. It’s 2025, there’s ZERO reason for it

Mingo,
I’ve yet to get an answer from ANYONE that is on your side. Let’s see if you answer…

If a bystander is injured/killed, should the penalty be the same for a DD vs someone texting or on the phone that hasn’t had a drink?

Not as tough as being stupid and a science denier.

Both guys can blow a .08 and be considered legally drunk. When that's not close to accurate. Only a MADD fool would think that they are the same.

Like I said when I posted the chart, everyone is drunk after X amount of drinks. That's not the way body chemistry works. But that's what MADD and LE want you to believe.

There’s a difference between being impaired and distracted. But I’m all for getting idiots to stop texting and driving too

If two people blow a .08, they both have the same level of blood alcohol content, .08. That doesn’t mean they’ve had the same amount of alcohol, like you originally said.

Are you retarded? This seems to be extraordinary simple

This is what you said, and then posted a chart that directly refutes this sentence.

I, for some reason, continue to be amazed out just how fricking stupid some people on this site can be, and for that, I have no one to blame but myself. Just incredible stuff

I would take the drunks on the roads versus everyone driving with their eyes buried in a phone

My cousin got a DUI in the 90s. First and only. He didn’t get his license back for 10 years because he wouldn’t go to a meeting, AA I guess, and say he was an alcoholic. It was the day before Thanksgiving and he blew a .12. It finally took one particular lady to retire before he could legally drive again.

Hey retarded retarded, I didn't say they had the same amount of alcohol. I said they shouldn't be treated the same when it comes the BAC. AND. if they both blow .08 they would be considered legally drunk. It's a one size fits all approach. Hell, neither one may be drunk. But MADD and the politicians made up a rule like during covid and made it a law.

And you shouldn't be amazed at anyone else's stupidity considering who you are.

Mingo,
What’s the difference?? The law was broken regardless.

I am referring to comparing texting vs drinking. A law is a law….right?

They are mad. They didn’t call themselves upset, or slightly peeved. They’re mad.

If local officials actually cared about drunk drivers they would be at the doors of every establishment in town with a machine. It's all about the money, always has been.

There is really no excuse to do it though not with uber, lyft, and regular arse taxis. Hell, call a friend, call a parent. I have had my mom come get my wife and I from a bar before.

Anyone have experience with MADD?

Yes, we had a chaper at my high school. A mom started it after her son died after homecoming.

Her son and his "friend", the driver, got in a wreck after the dance. The driver fled the scene so he wouldn't get in trouble. It came out later that he kid died within minutes, but it never stopped everyone from wonder what would have happened if help was called because he wasn't killed on impact.

It was a small town, lots of people were mad.
