What's up NoHo. I just made my one year anniversary at the new job, can you believe? Seems like I just started. Very busy, rarely can I post during the day. How's your job?

Darrells special
i swear next time I travel west on 10, I'm swinging in this place and see if that roar of praises I've head over the years on TD is worthy.

I have a little more faith in my LC Baws than I do my NLa Baws, for the simple fact they are in SLa..... That praise northerners had given Johnny's was huge and expectations were really high when I ordered my pie, (although a good pizza) ended up being one of the more overrated places in La.

Darrell's is up there surpassing Johnny's with its praise, the ratings don't really get much higher than what Da Special receives.....

Damn now I'm hungry for a fit an debris Poboy dressed add Swiss

Glorified Pizza Hut...its not bad, but not as amazing as everyone claims it is.

Congrats. It doesn't seem like a year, that's for sure

Not too bad. I'm not quite as busy as you are, but I'm ok with that.

Exactly.... Hearing about it, I was expecting something special.

And since I've ordered and ate it probably a dozen times, but now my expectations are where they should be. A decent cheap, quick, pie 'cut in strips'.... The praise it received has made me question anything someone from Shrevetexas recommends now

Thanks petus.

SS, I've heard Darrell's poboys are the bomb, and then I've heard some say way overrated and at best average. I've never been either but am curious.

Maybe you and I could make a LC run, eat some poboys and score some chicks.

It will. I don't care for their food at all. I much prefer The Habit burgers.

Hmmm..... SS' 'not-so-Cool story bro' of the day

Not me being the victim but a guy I knew for a couple decades(few years older than me) lived a couple blocks from the recent news story location on Milan and Clara, but he was shot up in a vehicle over probably 10 times. He still managed to get out or the truck he was driving and stumble down the street some before falling in some tall grass and passing. His Impala was parked at another acquaintance's house in Algiers at the time, and sat there for several months before he could finally get in touch with someone in the family that he gave it to.

Ive had one. For me, it wasn't all newsworthy. And consider the fact that its Lake Charles, not exactly the epicurean center of La.

see I bet it's great, and I know some folk from LC and all of them are solid and seem to know their food pretty well...

The thing is, it's been put on such a pedestal, it will be hard to meet that praise, in turn placing it overrated unfortunately... But I bet it's pretty slamming.

I'll tell you the NLa folk seem to get honestly mad when I informed them that their beloved Johnny's was a run of the mill pie, placing it a nut hair above the biggest chains (Domino's, PJ's, Hut) and behind Blaze.

Johnny's opened a place off of Tiger Bend years ago. I think it lasted 1 year, then closed. It was terrible. And trust me, BR has very few decent pizza joints. You have to be awful to fail here.

The 'special' as they call it is not a traditional poboy as we know it. Its a hybrid... a po-sammich.

And Lake Charles is as much Texas as is Shreveport, which doesn't help.
