I don’t know if I specifically spelled it out. He knows I was concerned about him driving those highways alone for the first time and he knows he can’t go incommunicado for 6 hours. I thought that covered it.

Explain the danger aspect. That you were worried about those roads. My kids knew I didn't so much care where they were or what they were doing (in college) but I needed to know they were alive. I assume you are in a ditch so a proof of life text as my friend calls it is what I need.

I’m willing to bet he’s thought through most of that by the time he gets home. I don’t tend to yell a lot bc there was too much yelling in my home when I was growing up. We tend to talk through things usually but I don’t listen to him very well when I’m angry. Just needed this time to calm down so I can talk with him instead of at him. He’s a mini me so he doesn’t respond well to someone talking at him. I’ll get through to him much better by being calm.
And if all else fails, get teary eyed and tell him I was scared he was dead in a ditch somewhere. Guilt also gets through.

It goes in and out of his locker on longer workouts. He will sometimes swim laps after weights, spends time in the sauna, etc. 3-4 hours isn’t a long workout for him. 6 hours is stupid.

Really no reason to duck off with his Bros, though. He’s never gotten in trouble so he doesn’t have a ton of rules. He pretty much just has to tell me where he’s going, who he’s with and when he will be home.
