I heard it too but assumed he called in. Cool. He did make a good argument for the guys to stick around. Get closer to degree, access to good facilities, and be a treated like a local celebrity. I've always wondered about guys who are WILDLY popular in BR then go on to minor league careers in random mid-sized cities and fade from spotlight. Is that an issue for any of them?

Pretty sure their only thoughts at the time are don't have to go to school or study, and get paid to play baseball. I think a lot of them end up getting there and in the bottom of the rung farm system, and get homesick later and decide it's not worth the work and wait.
