Good call. Searing almost anything in garlic butter and pouring it over pasta is delicious. Especially good scallops that have that sweet taste to them.
And for the bisque, I wouldn't put the scallops in with everything else. I would sear them and keep them to the side, and add them in towards the very end. But I agree, it's tricky. Leave them cooking too long and it ruins them, they get rubbery. And since I've never done it before....

I had a summer job once as a teenager calling people to make sure the phone book people were actually delivering phone books. It's paid well for a teenager, but was pretty boring.
