The compression ring (most cars will have 3 rings compression, groove ring and oil control) has to have an oil film to ride against or it and the piston wall will be destroyed. This oil film will mostly be burned off during the power cycle.
So a 4 cycle engine is always burning a small amount of oil in order to run if it doesn't it is about to self destruct.

This is the most direct impact that has been proven to occur with LOS and other additives. Modern oil is a very careful balance and mucking with it can cause issues. I am not saying LOS won't alleviate or mask certain issues but there are usually better ways to deal with issues properly.
Sticky/loud lifters/cam followers often can be "fixed" by running some Seafoam in the crankcase just prior to an oil change. The Seafoam will break down a bunch of the buildup in the small oil passages and allow for proper lifter pump up.

One of the biggest advantages with "full synthetics" is they normally have a better additive package and can handle longer drain cycles. If you are one of the last 3k-5k miles oil change guys on the planet then synthetics have less value. If on the other end of the spectrum you are a guy that gets a used oil analysis from Blackstone et al after every drain and adjust your drain milage synthetic can be a huge labor/cost saver.
Then there is the discussion of Group IV vs Group V oil and which makes more sense for your situation but that is kinda beyond the scope of tOT.

I disagree about full synthetics having better additive packs.
Additives do not play well with full synthetics due to the uniformity of molecule size. It makes it difficult to blend the ad packs in. Synthetics rely on its resistance to oxidation and high viscosity index. Additive packs are better in mineral oils.
Also, there are no group V engine oils to my knowledge. Did you mean group III vs group IV?

Also let’s make sure everyone understands that an engine oil can be sold as “Full Synthetic” and be made of petroleum base. We are now refining oils to a degree that they meet what was the the standard for synthetic oils. The company I work for is now doing this.

Group IV is any oil that’s PAO. Most majors use PAO in their full synthetics.
There was a lawsuit back in the day between Castrol and Exxon Mobil. Castrol was claiming that their group 3 was full synthetic due to the uniform size of the molecules. It is so highly refined that it met the definition of synthetic. Castrol won, making it possible to call a group 3 an actual synthetic. Exxon Mobil was the king of PAO at the time so they challenged Castrol on their claim and lost.
The main difference is you will see PAO achieve higher viscosity index than group III

I believe Mobil Full-Syn are highly refined petroleum base that is fortified with pao.
They are not 100% PAO.

They may be now. Lots of people play marketing games now with what they call it and how they portray it. Synthetic blends are a joke.
