How "triggered" would that bastard be after watching two non-stop hours of Married With Children?

But what happens when the girl is actively participating? Just because she is drunk, doesn't mean she didn't make the decision to participate. We then say that she was not in a correct state of mind to give consent, but 99% of the time, the guy is in the same state of mind (i.e. wasted), yet he gets no protection for not being able to make decisions.

I don't have a perfect answer, and I hate to be that guy, but if we all agree guys are powerless in these situations, then we need to avoid those situations.

You're not going to incite change by repeatedly getting drunk and hooking up with drunk women who will then accuse you of rape. As I said earlier, if you treat sex seriously you GREATLY reduce the chances of this happening to you - plain and simple. That doesn't mean you'll be completely insulated form a false claim, but for all intents and purposes you're in the clear.

I wish there was a perfect answer, but until that time comes, guys just need to be careful.

Seriously, if you can't get drunk and hook up with random chicks from college bars, why go to LSU?

You can do whatever you'd like, but don't act surprised if you find yourself in a precarious situation.

It is almost like walking alone in a bad part of town - you don't deserve to be mugged, but why even put yourself in that situation?

Maybe. Louisiana's governor and the university's president will ensure that LSU is a logic-free zone when it comes to this kind of thing.

keeping control of the narrative

The narrative is blown out of the water by both sides. Lumping all sexual assaults into one category is disingenuous to the real problems, but this idea that there is some epidemic of men having their lives ruined by false rape claims is equally ridiculous.

I'm well aware that the latter occurs, but many people make it out to be a bigger problem than actual rapes, and that is simply not the case. There is no doubt in my mind that more rapist walk freely than men who are falsely accused, and to argue otherwise belittles the actual problems.

I'm sure someone is going to link cases across the US where students were falsely accused, and I sympathize with those who were wronged, but I can do so without diminishing all assault claims, particularly when a majority are NOT false claims.

If you simply video record your foreplay and sexual encounter, then the false claims are easy to dispute. And you get to share the experience with friends and family later.

The 1 in 5 number is heavily debunked.

1 in 5 have second thoughts on who they hooked up with and convince themselves it was a sexual assault.

The safest answer, really, is to check out. Don't buy drinks for women at bars. Don't bring women home from the bar. Talk, flirt, get her number, call her another time. Need a frick buddy? Get one.

Don't put yourself in a situation where you're having sex with a girl that might be drunk, or a girl that you just met.

or you record the audio of her saying, "Yea baby, frick me like I'm your whore"

If a guy grabs a girls arse, it's sexual battery and counts. Bumping and grinding in a crowd on the dance floor and someone gets a boob grabbed, sexual battery and counts towards the 1/5.

Im sure 95% of these girls wouldn't consider themselves a sexual assault victim but the people that take these surveys do. They want ever little inappropriate encounter to count to inflate their numbers. I could go ask 20 girls right now if they have ever been sexually assaulted and they would all say no. if I then asked them if a random guy or any guy has ever slapped their arse without consent most would probably say yes.

What I hate about this is that this is part of the feminist movement, meant to empower and strengthen women who feel like women before them have been told to rely on men for everything.

Yet this false 1 in 5 statistic which is entirely fabricated undermines that message.

So when a woman is at any level of intoxication, she is unable to rightfully consent to sexual intercourse? What about a male? Does anyone ever question my right to consent to sex if I am intoxicated? Absolutely not. So once again the message devolves into "If a woman is inebriated, do not question her personal decisions: why she is at this party, why she drank so much, why she has left herself in a vulnerable position. Instead, we must demand of men, to once again be the protectors and overseers of women once more. You want to have sex with me? Well I know what is best for you, you are drunk, and don't know what you are saying."

It belittles women once again and places us men back into the "sexist and chauvinistic" position that we must take care of women because they are weaker and lesser minded, and stricter standards and scrutiny apply to us because we should know better because we aren't foolish women.

It is completely backwards.
