Tiger trivia...

Two time NCAA All-American Joseph Atiyeh, former Tiger wrestler, won the first Olympic medal in his native Syria’s history in 1984 and is one of only 30 former Tigers to have an Olympic medal in their trophy cabinet.

ETA, I’m sure you knew that already, this was a post to educate some of these dumbasses.

Yes, I remember Joey. He medaled in Los Angeles. He was a King to the Syrians after that.

Did the USA Wrestling summer program in 90 & 91 which trained at Kyle's gym on Govt St. Joe stopped by pretty regularly for the afternoon rounds, seven years removed from the Olympics and a decade from college - he was still REALLY f'n good.

Assad's dad renamed their national sports facility in Joe's honor.

I remember you!

If Danny Davis wasn't such a crooked referee your intercontinental title run might have lasted much longer.

Didn’t either Joe or his brother George, a former DLiner at LSU, go to prison for something ?
