Would have loved this in college. The petition makes so valid points about home life and other things. Many other universities have installed it for this semester. Wouldn’t be surprised if it happens.

Yale has some students proposing the same thing as well.

I got lucky, my Masters program is already online so we're just moving along with some modifications to some of our bigger projects (i.e. hosting counseling groups). But I imagine if you're not used to brick and mortar online courses that it's a bit of an adjustment.

What is their current fix for the situation? Are they just saying the semester doesn't count?

Sure, do minimal work and get the same outcome as someone that busts their arse. Socialism here we come.

I was a C student, so all classes for me were borderline pass/fail.

i was thinking about how easy this semester probably ended up for students.

1) how much effort would profs put into the new study at home curriculum on their end? likely just ended with less material overall

2) very few profs want to fail students/prevent them from graduating after this, so i imagine as long as you made any kind of effort in the courses you'll get passed along

I do far more work in my online classes then I did in my in person classes (especially those big lecture classes). Most professors will purposefully add work for online courses as another way to keep you constantly engaged.

I know I'm good with my doctor getting 70% of the surgery correct. That counts as passing, right?

Great for lazy students
Not so great for hard working students

Let's get the Plus or Minus System done away with. Forget Pass/Fail.

Pretty sure pass/fail systems are harder to pass then normal grading systems.

In general, no.

In this COVID-19 panicked world where everything is now online, yes.

Not really. Usually still slap a grade average on it. C- and above = passing

How hard is it to make an A at LSU? You just have to stay conscious.

Pretty crazy that these kids are begging for their already worthless degrees to be worth even less
