For real though the lighting at Nicholson and Bob Petit/Jennifer Jean intersection is horrible for an area with a lot of foot traffic.

no greater loss than the loss of a child, simply beyond human comprehension...

The Reveille article about this said there have been 41 pedestrians struck by cars in the last five years around campus.

Remind me again. When did LSU become a pedestrian campus and close to vehicular traffic?

That school has been hit with a couple of tragedies over the past half year or so. My little cousin who I am thinking is a year older than her died in a car accident last December.

LSU...time to protect your students. That place and area has been dark and desolate since the 90s.

A wonderful human being taken.

I usually don't post but I can say without a doubt that intersection, (and the whole area in general if we are being honest) is a massive safety hazard. Not enough lighting, heavy traffic, drunk drivers everywhere, no proper crosswalks...etc. I could go on and on. When I was a student at LSU not too long ago I saw several students almost get hit in and around Tigerland. LSU needs to step up here and fix this. This is unacceptable and accidents will continue to occur here if they or the city of BR doesn't address this. Anyone else feel this way??

Started it around 2007ish. I was still in school, and I graduated in 2008. Be interested to see what the numbers were before.

That intersection is bad at night. Kids just dart across the road and don’t look. It’s so dark you can’t see any of them. I’ve almost hit a couple over the years and I was stone cold sober.

None of that is LSU property but they could pressure the city into doing something. We also try to teach kids some personal responsibility and tell them not to cross the middle of a road while drunk late at night but that's probably too much to ask.

Yeah, I totally understand it's not LSU's property but IMO it is their responsibility to do their best to fix the situation. It's way to close to campus to just ignore. Telling the kids isn't going to do anything.

I feel like every generation of LSU students has that person that may have been your friend or a friend of a friend get hit by a car and killed near Tigerland.

God, wrap your arms around Sarah’s family and friends, hold them together, help them find peace as they carry this burden of grief.

It’s still crazy how the intersection of Bob Pettit/Jennifer Jean at Nicholson is not lit better. So many people dart back and forth across going to or coming out of Tigerland.

I can't believe the city has never put up lights along Nicholson between campus and Brightside. There is a bike path there, so it would make so much sense and save lives. It seems like someone gets hit there 1-2 times each year.

Sounds crazy, but a human cross walk guard for certain days/hours should be considered. Maybe blinking cross walk lights. This happens way too frequently.

That intersection is scary. Both as a driver and crossing it (if you’re not too drunk to care). I’ve crossed it many times on foot and driven through it many times. I will purposely avoid it now if driving. I’ve nearly hit people before when I know how dangerous it is and been very alert. They need a pedestrian bridge IMO
