LSU could cut half the administration bloat that plagues the campus

Coming from someone who is in school right now, college has become a scam during covid. I have not learned a thing during this whole ordeal. Professors have no way of preventing cheating or group work. I predict that GPA's have shot up rapidly.

The University stil has to maintain its facilities and pay their employees.
You could cut about half of the bullshite administration out and save quite a chunk of change there, just like any other major university in this country.
But of course that is an unthinkable prospect.

You think there’s been some grand conspiracy to keep your $200?
Well, it's quite the racket when a school tells students to stay on campus, then informs them the classes are online... only after they pay.
What's room and board up to these days at LSU? $3k+/semester?

define administration bloat...
The university has to maintain certain colleges to stay qualified as a "R1" university. That destinction gives them access to millions in federal research dollars such as those used on hurricane reasearch and coastal erosion
regardless of whether you like the university having departments for diversity and women's issues, those budgets are sub $1M. LSU's budget is nearly $1B

We’ve been amidst a pandemic since early March

SOB's waited until all fees ( room and board) were paid before they told them that most/all of their classes would be online.
My son knew the week before his fee bill was due.
Still paid it, but it blows.
According to their "framework" send earlier this summer, 4 of his 5 classes were to be on campus.
Now?
4 of 5 online.

Well then it’s worth it.

Things are just ducky in Louisiana when it comes to those two subjects.

remind me the parameters. Mine has 4 of 5 online too, and that caught me a bit by surprise.

They have a whole slew of "facility managers" who get paid upper five figures to make sure classrooms have enough desks and so forth. I mean, it's important to have enough desks, but do you need a fancy title and salary to do that? They have at least one interior designer on staff. Have you seen the interiors of LSU buildings? They have a school of interior design. If they actually need interior design work done, make it a student project.

Administrative "BLOAT" spending comprised just 26% of total educational spending by American college in 1980-1981, while instructional spending comprised 41%. Three decades later, the two categories were almost even: administrative spending made up 24% of schools’ total expenditures, while instructional spending made up 29%.

And they probably won't be able to use the LAZY RIVER.

I fricking hated online proctoring when I went back for another degree online. How miserable it must be to sit there and watch someone take a test for 2 hours. It didn't help that not a single one of these proctors were a native English speaker.

pretty sure the classes that are going online are most freshman classes that require large auditorium spaces and big enrollment.
i could be wrong though

My kid is not a freshman, and 4 of 5 are online.
It just one data point so im not trying to make any sweeping statements, just putting it out there.

I've been predicting this for months.
Alabama's tuition is due today.
Expect an "online only" announcement soon
Most of my daughter's classes at Bama were already online. Their whole sorority rush is virtual.

Then it will be much easier to provide pics of the candidates.
